How do I care for my freshly painted vehicle?

So I had some damage repaired and I asked a body shop (I thought the one that I used was closed so I asked a different one, but turns out I was wrong.) and they said that I should polish the truck after thirty days. Is this something that’s really necessary? I’ve never buffered a vehicle before, which I understand is what he meant by polish, and I don’t want to burn the paint off or something. Can I just use wax+wash all-in-one soap after thirty days (if I should wait longer let me know) and then just act as usual or should I polish it? There seems to be a lot of differing opinions on the subject. The body shop I used did say not to wax it yet but that I could wash it, and this other shop said the same thing and that after thirty days I can wax it. I’ve also read to wait 90 days to wax it. I don’t actually wax my truck because I can never get all the water marks off and then I just end up sealing them in. I think the wax and wash makes it look clean and shiny enough. Any info would be appreciated. I don’t think the shop I used said I needed to polish it. Also, I live in Florida if that makes any difference. It’s been getting down to like 58 at times recently but it’s not too cold. Thanks!
