Are S14 coil overs compatable with an S13?

The s14 front knuckle works on the s13 for the 5 lug swap, and I think the s13 camber plates work on the s14, so the front coil over/shock spring assembly is compatable is'nt it? I'am not sure about the back. From the pictures the rear camber shock mounts look similiar, and the lower mount looks identical. I thought that maybe this had been covered before so I did a search, but came up empty. -Jason

yeha fronts are pretty interchangeable
rear is another story, well shock wise

lower mount is same, just s13 uses a nut and s14 a bolt, thats it

Thanks^, As long as the shock & spring assembly is the same hieght and the lower mount is in the right spot, then I don't see how lower fastener issue would be a big deal. Or is it? Has the swap been done before. I can get a good deal on some JIC's flta2's for an S14, and that is why I'am asking. -Jason

The s14 rear coil assembly is 6-10"longer, but I think the actual shock may be around the same lenght. It looks like the lower section/perch that actually mounts to the car is what's longer. (the part that the shock actually screws into, to adjust ride hieght) Maybe I can shorten (cut), or fabricte a lower spring perch? Jic sells the shocks seperatlely ($250 a piece) and they do not come with the lower perch/mount.

you'd have to cut the shock
but if you cut it you'll blast fluids all over

do it right, and get the right coilovres

The shock unscrews from the lower perch. The shock is like a screw/bolt, the lower perch is like a nut. You turn the entire shock to adjust ride hieght.

yeah i know
my friends have it

its the actual LENGTH of the shock, not the perch
the SHOCK itself is much longer then s13

i have owned both, s13 and s14 coilovers
shocks are COMPLETELY different
perch is same for both

your talking to someone with KNOWLEDGE on the shocks and coilovers. 3 of my friends use FLTa2s, i used Tein HE (s13) and Tanabe DD (s14) and all my buddies otherwise run apex, tanabe, tein, jic, etc etc etc etc..

shocks are VERY DIFFERENT
basically
to work on s13, you need a s13 rear shock unit, NOT s14
unless, i like i said, you cut and weld it shut

listen to the PG guy...but just incase you don't

Listen to my troubles. I too got a good deal on suspension... but the guy that sold me them didn';t tell me they were an s14... alright whatever. Fronts bolted on fine rear 2 bolt is wider so you'll ahve to use an s13 hat... thats no problem for me I had extra top hats. Bolted them in wait a second this is too high. Slammed the perches (rear were ohlins) front were apexi jdm coilovers. Even with slammed perches it was barely lowered in teh rear... went to go drive. The car started bouncing all over the place... what the hell blown suspension? I should have know.... Talk to my friend david(driver of the gdimension car) You should make sure its for an s13 s14's are too long you might be riding on the bump stop. Yup i was riding ont he bump stop....

Moral of the storie... just save up for the right ones

s14 fronts are the same but the rears are longer on s14. The fronts i think the bolt at the bottom is thicker on s14.
