Blown valve cover gasket
Hi guys,
searched, didn't get conclusive results... The valve cover gasket on a 300hp (no more, I don't want to change the injectors just max them out) can be a OEM one or should I get a stronger one? If stronger, who sells such items? I have a bit of oil on the front of my engine. My mech (great guy seems to know his SR20DET) says positive for valve cover gasket. Says that's all I need to buy in terms of parts and he'll do it. But since I'm having it done anyway, what other parts that typically fail should I replace also? Somebody mentioned a "front cover gasket", what is that? Thank you! Maciek

Is there that much pressure up there with the cams? Is it ventilated or did you block off the hose to the intake piping? You should be perfectly fine with the stock gasket. The "front" gasket he's probably talking about is the cover for the timing chain. Don't know what to tell you man... Maybe your "mechanic" doesn't know his SR's too well.
