installing hd in ps2... need help

Wassup guys. Heres my problem, I got a V7 ps2, no solder mod chip using swap magic disc, and a downloaded iso to cdr of hd advance 2 and even hd advance 2.1...

Now when i do the swap trick, HD advance's splash screen shows up, but it stays there and the drive keeps spinning, nothing happens.. This is my first time trying to do it as I just bought a network adapter and threw in my 80gig hd. I already used WinHiip to format the hd and install some games thru my pc...

Am I doing something wrong?

the HD advanced is burned a special way, on DVD format. There is no known way to correctly "burn" the dvd, as its written in layers.

k, if you dont mind I have a question, I remember in the day with bleem and all the other shit, you couldnt realy burn games well and shit, well how bout today, could a non law abiding person other than myself go out get a ps2, get a chip, and a software program to burn discs. Would you need dual layer. can it be done as easy as lets say, oh burning movies?, not that I would do it or anything, just from an educational standpoint im curious.

So one can play online and not worry about the DNAS garbage.

Check the link NZO provided... lots of great information.

And to answer your question --- yes. Do your research regarding chipsets and what version PS2 you have. Or you can be cheap like me and do the swap method. When I play online, I've got the original and there are no problems.

After I solved my problem, I stopped researching. There's always new and constant updates for this stuff.

Just some info, You don't need swap magic or a modchip, just a compatable HD, network adapter and fliptop or slide card. HD advance 2.0 can convert import/burnt games, if you got a fliptop or slide card. Takes about 30min to convert a game.

www.PS2HD.com has game compatibility list
http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/ for HD compatibility list

yea...my buddy ripped gt4...too bad the way he did it, it cuts out arcade mode, and who knows what else...you lose a lot of the stuff in the game, but he ripped both layers and patched em back up..but it works!
