Wheel clearance on compressed coils
I'm working on my wheel setup right now and I need a spacer. With my car's suspension completely released, I can fully bolt my wheel and tire onto the front hub. The problem: it JUST touches the coil enough to keep the wheel from moving. If i would put a 15mm spacer on i would have just that: 15mm of clearance between my wheel and my dreaded tein HEs.
I'm just curious as to how the susupension geometry changes as the shock body is compressed. Will the top of my wheel move even closer to the coil or will it stay that same 15mms away even at full compression? Depending on the answer to this question, I may have to order even large spacers to accomodate for camber. thanks -mike |

DOES NOT CHANGE...at all.
Think...the spindle is bolted to the coilover/shock with 2 large bolts, no movement there. Wheel is bolted to the hub, no movement there. The wheel/hub/shock body move up and down as one piece...clearance will not change. FYI, I run Tein HE with 17X9, +25...225/45-17 Azeni's clear fine, same with Kumho MX. MX's in 245/40 rubbed the spring... - Brian
