That site says nothing about using the REAR 300ZX rotors and calipers. Fly240guy wants to know how to modify these parts onto his 240.

mbmbmb23 & DriftFC3s, you guys did nothing to help or answer his question, please if you have no info for the guy .. don't post anything.
Well, the Z32 front brakes are bolt-on, so lets get to the rear. You will need Z32 N/A hubs, with the heatshield, the heat shield has the drum brakes, and the e-brakes cabels, rotors and rear z32 calipers. All this stuff is bolt-on, the tricky part is getting the e-brake to work, its not as hard as some ppl think. You'll need to extend them. A kit from www.projectsilvia.com should be out soon ( I hope) |

Hey man...you know....gotta get my post numbers up....gotta get that 3rd star.
*jk* Well.....I figured I could offer something of a *bump* other than telling him where to "stick it"....so I gave him that site. Yeah I know they dont sell the rear conversion, but more than likely...they know OF it...and could help get him those peices. I asked the very same question a couple months ago, and no one on this board had any specifics other than the e-brake not working...so why not try another avenue? -M

I'm curious towards this, too -- I have a pretty good parts list for what one'd need to do the swap, I'm just not sure if it assumes a 5-lug swap, or if it will convert my S13 into a 5-lug car (at least in the rears... camppain has shown how the front brakes can be done w/out swapping to the 5 lug layout)
So my question is: Will swapping the rear 240 solid discs for the 300zx vented (and bigger) discs retain the S13s 4 lug layout, or will it change to a 5 lug layout due to parts swapped? Also, I went to autozone to get quotes on their remanufactured goods, notably the 300zx pieces. What are the specific names of various other suspension/brake components that I have to give them OTHER than calipers/rotors/misc. bolts/nuts for the brake system... Gratsi! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Can'tpay .. Yeah yeah, same thing.
adey .... Z32 rear brake conversion can't be done without the heatshield/dustshield/splashshield ... so that bring me to my point .. that ... you can only use the Z32 rear hubs for this conversion because they have a hole with allows the heatshield/dustshield/splashshield to be mounted to them. Thats wy you can't do it with the 4 lug set-up. ( This is if you want to keep the e-brake) You can mount the Z32 rear brakes with the 4 lug stock setup but you don't have e-brake. Also, S14 rear hubs won't work with the Z32 heatshield/dustshield/splashshield. |

Does anyone have info on the REAR 300zx brake swap for the 5 lug? Can I just to the dealer and get the parts?
What parts do I have to replace, I'm assuming that the mounting bolts for the caliper don't match with the stock 95 240sx se holes because of the larger caliper. Or do they? About how much would it cost for new parts? Rotors (probably from brembo), calipers, hoses, e-brake(?)...

just giving my two cents.....
i have the z32 rear brakes on my s14. personally i cut off the dust shield and it bolted up just fine the only modification i did was extend the e-brake cable from the end of the e-brake handle.

So it's that easy? Just yank the rotor off and change the caliper (the stuff that goes along with that) and extend the e-brake cable.... sounds like fun <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

didn't Kid Zelda already say that you need to replace the hub and dust shield??? If you DON'T need your e-brake.. then it's as simple as swapping the dust shield, rotor, and caliper. Otherwise, you're going to need to convert to 5-lugs. The rear hub on the z32 not only allows the e-brake line to go through, but i'm pretty sure it's a part of the e-brake assembly in that it holds the e-brake outer hosing to allow the e-brake line to be tensioned. Otherwise, you'll have to do some machining to an S14 hub.

I know this wont answer your question as much as other people have helped, but i've contemplated this same upgrade also. I was on the 240sx.org website installs page =) which unfortunately is littered with crappy service prividers, such as tripod, earthlink etc...
Soo... to shorten up, there was a 300 rear to 240 swap page in the installs, and i've viewed it before and i was going to copy the page for backup, but, its gone now... i know there a couple of pages wiht the procedures and pictures listed, out there somewhere... gl

You all are confusing me...or I'm a moron...don't answer that.. Anyway, if you already have the five lug set up (95se) is the rear brakes just a direct bolt on THEN? do you just need the shield/rotors /calipers/bolts and lines? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

![]() if you want the e-brake then you need the z32 rear hub AFAIK.

If somebody has done this and/or knows exactly what to do, parts you need, etc. please post in the Archives/FAQ forum. If you can, give consideration to 4-lug, 5-lug, and 4 to 5-lug conversion cars.

Not in the pictures are 5lug wheels, extra lug nuts and S14 control arm ball joint (not needed for S14)
Kid Zelda’s Easy to do 5 lug swap + Z32 front brakes and Rear Z32 brakes Parts sheet (For Base S14 and all S13’S) Parts needed for 5 lug swap: S14 SE Front spindle/knuckles S14 Knuckle to Strut Mounting Bolts ( Some have used S13 bolts) S14 SE rear Hub or Z32 Non-turbo rear hub (both will work, only hub) *S13 will need an S14 ball joint pressed into the control arms (ONLY S13) S14 SE rear rotors. You’ll also need more lug nuts. And a set of 5 lug pattern wheels. Parts needed for Z32 front brakes: Z32 calipers. Would be good to rebuild them. With new seals, shims, pads. Z32 Front rotors. New brake lines made to mate with the Z32 calipers (PDM sells them) Rear brake upgrade WITHOUT E-brake. Z32 rear calipers Z32 rotors Cut dust shield to fit Z32 rotors Rear Brake upgrade WITH E-brake Rear Z32 N/A Hubs (Can’t use S14 SE hubs because on a mounting hole only the Z32 hubs have) Z32 rotors Z32 rear calipers Z32 rear dust shield with Inner drum brake and E-brake cables (will need to extend the lines) <a href="http://kidzelda.freewebspace.com/images/picture_0558.jpg" target='_blank'>http://kidzelda.freewebspace.com/images/picture_0558.jpg</a> <a href="http://kidzelda.freewebspace.com/images/picture_0559.jpg" target='_blank'>http://kidzelda.freewebspace.com/images/picture_0559.jpg</a> |

Good Job man! Thats GREAT. The pictures help a LOT.
How much total did it run you to set it up? did you have some aftermarket wheels? or did you use S14 se wheels?

Yeah, I thought the pic's would be helpful.
I'm not sure how much I've spent gathering all the parts ... I don't keep track. I was going to get some aftermarket wheels .. but I'm just staying with Z32 wheels for a while. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'> |

excellent Job, Kid Zelda, "applause" <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='
![]() could not have outlined it better myself. As far as DJ machines question about the E brake I do not think it is wise to not have a E brake . thats why they are called emergency brake . If your brakes fail hydraulic wise then you can always use your e brake to slow yourself down. thats important and not to be overlooked.
