An unnoticed scratch has started rusting, what do I do? Its about 1mmx1cm, not a big scratch so I didn't notice it untill it was brown

I don't know much about body work, but couldn't you sand out the rust (all of the rust) and then put some touch up paint on it? How big is the scratch?

get one of those pencil looking things that's actually got a corse metal tip and is meant to scrape shit out........yeah, one of those. scrape off all rust....do this more than you think is neccessary, and take off a tiny bit of paint on the surrounding area to see if it's rusted underneath yet. prime.....wetsand......paint.....wetsand......buff ......all better

Oops, put in in the wrong forum

Anyway, LOL @ lance! "How big is the scratch?" its about 1mmx1cm

Is there a way to do it w/out wetsand (since I have no clue what that is) and by painting do you mean touch-up paint? Also, where could I get one of those scrapper things?

After looking at it again...it really looks like an intentional scratch. Very deep (obviously, down to bare metal) and very small, paint is perfect all around. I can't think of a situation that could have created a scratch like that. I'm quite sure I know where I was when it happened to, motherfuckers! Just mad cauz I'm better then you grr...I'll stop now.

Odd question, but where is the scratch? I thought our S14's were made of aluminum--I have a few really deep scratches on the doors (down to the metal), and none of them are rusting. None of my deep rock chips on the hood are rusting either.

probably get a scraper at most auto stores....
wesanding isn't very difficult really, although you can fuck shit up big time.....but no it's not neccessary, although you will get best results doing it this way

if you have full coverage on the car claim it as vandalism they'll cut you a check to get it fixed then fix it yourself and pocket the cash.....i did it and mad $200

just fyi wetsanding is really simple... just what it sounds like...
you use:
ultrafine jewel paper [it says wet/dry]
a sponge
lil baby bucket of water
elbow grease

basically when i have done it, i used a sponge to wet the sanded area, sand using a little rubber block, and when the paper is loaded, drop it into the little bucket WEEE all clean

gets smoother than a baby's @$$
2k grit should work pretty well....
[edit]forgot you can't use the "<" brackets GRRRR[/edit]
