kei office coilovers question

I have the s13 coilovers on the s13 I have some weird clunking noise that is coming from one of the rear coils. I dont think the shock is blown there is nothing coming out of it and it seems to be coming off the pillow ball mount. I have put them in and taken them apart several times so dont tell me to tighten them down been there done that. I dont have the adjustment for the rear coilovers and I was wondering if it is set at 1 or 4 that this may be causing this noise. It only makes this noise on one of them I looked at the shock and didnt notice a bend in the rod. Also I switched the coilover to the other side and the noise switched sides so I know that this is where the noise is coming from. Any info would be great thanks jake

blown shock ibet

take of spring push shock down, piston should come back up slowly.
if doesnt blown
not 100% gaurantee shock is ok, but its the easiest way to check
spring could be slapping coils

but its most likely the shock.

check to see if something else is clunking in conjuction with it. Do you have RCAs, say if you were using single arm design, the coiulover might hit it, if you placed the RCA backwards.

I did do the test and pushed the coilover down and it came back up slowly and yes i did switch sides and it made the noise from the same coil.

If you don't have enough preload on the spring then it could be the spring slapping the top. Either that or it's bent but you said it isn't so~

try spinning the lower perch the spring sits on towards the upper mount. to tighten the space b/w the spring and perches, its not necessarily preloading the coilover just eliminating gaps.

I would say 80% that it's the spring. Make sure that it is seated and tight. It's always possible for it to work loose so make sure you check them from time to time.
