Works for me.

So is this implying that this may be replacing his GTO?

I'm just curious of how they build it. Maybe used some Starion parts on this beast?

These are Japanese RHD Evo 9s. From what people have been saying, they are setting it up as RWD to drift for the up in the Fast and Furious 3 movie... I have no idea how they made it RWD.

I actually found it pretty cool.. I dunno about you guys, but when they change the evo # isn't the body style supposed to change a little bit as well?

Yes, the Evo 9 has a different front and rear bumper, titanium colored headlights and tailights. Performance wise, the 9 has lighter Enkei wheels, regeared transmission and more usable horsepower with a MIVEC head and larger turbo over the 8. The Evo 7,8,9 all had the same body style with different bumpers and small cosmetic changes.

The US Evos have a rear 1.5 way clutch type diff. The JDM have a electronically controlled AYC system in the rear which is why the one in the video drifts kinda wierd, the computer is sensing wheel slip and trying to keep grip.

I find it cool that Rhys does this in his parking lot in the middle of the day.

i just found out the info on it
youll have to wait till RMR talks about it though, not sure if they want it under wraps
the car is done for a certain project, just wait

:suspense:

its interesting since its an awd car that they converted to rwd, not an everyday thing. its not like someone converted a DC2 teg and posted up some parking lot pimpin.

and not to mention rhys was busting those on advan r compound

correct. 4g63, 6G72, etc. uses transfer case fwd type tranny for AWD. EJ20, rb26det, sr20det-bluebird, etc. uses bellhousing rwd type tranny for AWD.

how would they use Starion parts anyways? Starion is rwd, the engine is turned the wrong way.

the Bluebird/GTI-R used a longitudal mounted engine????
But the Starion idea was basically truely converting it to rwd, not just un doing the front diff. The Starion's motor is the old brother to the current 4g63 so I wondered if maybe something bolted up. Hey, people have made transverse fwd cars into true rwd cars before(Focus Cobra!)

i thought the toughest part in the conversion was the rear axles, because they were built to only handle half the power comin from the engine..but i guess makin stronger axles shoudln't be too much trouble if you're attempting this huge a project

Well, Rhys used to drift the shit out of his awd evo 7 rally car. I think this is rad though, a rwd evo, straight pimpin'. I know he's with GM for Formula D, but I hope we see this car at some of the events. I wonder what "special project" it's for.. Fast and the Furious makes sense, since it's RHD and rear wheel drive; those were two big items they were looking for when the casting call went out.. Nevermind the fact that he's ripping up a parking lot. Man, I wish I had a parking lot to bomb right now. ah well, back to work for me.
