Hurricane Prep?
So I'm sittin' here in Miami getting ready to get butt raped by Fred Flintone's wife(Wilma if you're too young to know what I'm talking about), and was wondering if I should/could do anything to prep my car for this storm. Besides the obvious(JB weld it to the ground) should I disconnect my battery or anything else? Chime in and let me know, and pray that it isn't that bad.

Get it inside if you are able to, and if you are in a low lying area, get it off the ground. Other then that, there isn't much you can do. Mother Nature is a bitch. She'll get you one way or another if she want's to.

look for stuff that could potentally be blown into the car. Like ladders, wood, etc.
And move it away from the car. I would also try to board the windows, or somthing. Good luck.

all you have to do is look around you... if you see trees... move your car far away as possible to avoid trees... i park mine in the center of the front yard....
also.. if you have a big exhaust.. dont do what i did... during ivan i parked my rear end twards the gust of the wind... and i ended up pulling leaves out of the exhaust all the way down to the cat... hahha.... |

I dont think we are gonna be dealing with much flooding, but make sure you dont park near a tree. When Katrina passed as a category 1 many trees came down so imagine this as a number 3. Best of luck to all of us in SFl.

Well this is what I would do... Cut up some cardboard boxes and duck tape them to the windows then go buy one of those blue plastic tarps from WalMart or Home Depot big enough to cover the whole car and some rope. Get a couple of old bed comforters that are kind of fluffy and drape them over you car front to back then tie down the blue plastic tarp over the car with rope front to back and now you have flying object protection and water protection! Good luck!!!!!!!!

I'm enjoying the weather so far. We're only getting like 40mph gusts right now so its just enough for it to be fun. Sucks for those who are in the way of it though.
The tarp deal or moving things away from your car isnt going to do shit though... That wind is going to move everything at everything. You guys know those big light poles that they have at overpasses on the highway? 30 miles south of me last year when I think it was Charlie came through, the winds bent those over to where the top touched the ground. Every single one of them kinked at the same point. Whats weird is that it barely rained here and I doubt we had winds over 15mph. Frickin hurricanes. Tis life on the Gulf Coast. If I lived in Miami I wouldnt be worrying to much right now. If I was in Naples I might be shitting bricks though

Yeah Naples got it a little bad for them, but Miami got it just as bad, remember the Hurricane is moving NE so the right branch is where the winds accelerate, we got winds as bad as 100 mph. But in the end everything is alright, no power though.
