Gauging Interest - Full FMIC Kit for KA24DE

I couldnt post this elsewhere. So here seems good.

Ok gauging interest in a full FMIC KIT.

Including:

T-Bolt Clamps:
-Quality T-Bolt Clamps

Couplers:
-3 Ply Couplers(all are included but the transition from hot pipe to turbo seeing as how all turbo compressors will be different)

Piping:
-3" Cold Pipe 6061 Aluminum
-2.75" Hot Pipe 6061 Aluminum

We could also do a Mild Steel(maybe SS too) setup for alot cheaper.

FMIC:
-23.5”x 11.75” x3” Megan Racing Bar and Plate FMIC with Rounded endtanks for non-turbulent airflow.
---------or---------
-17.5”x 11.75”x 3" Megan Racing Bar and Plate FMIC with Rounded endtanks for non-turbulent airflow.

Brackets:
- Brackets for mounting the Intecooler and hardware.

We can and will do custom piping on the FMIC Full Kits, FMIC Piping Kits and Turbo Inlet Piping for additional costs.

We will also be offering:

-FMIC Full KIT(above)
-FMIC Piping Kits w/ Couplers and Clamps
-FMIC Piping Kits w/o Couplers and Clamps
-Turbo Inlet Piping w/ Couplers and Clamps
-Turbo Inlet Piping w/o Couplers and Clamps
-Megan Racing Bar and Plate 23.5"x11.75"x3"
-Megan Racing Bar and Plate 11.75"x11.75"x3"

HKS and Greddy do not offer variable size of FMIC Piping nor even near the same size intercooler and ours will be Bar and Plate. They dont offer you mounts for your intercooler. And this kit is gonna be practically 100% universal. The different manifolds for the KA-T are not gonna move the compressor outlet that much.

sure...

"would u guys offer one wit 3inch piping??"

Sure well offer in it in 3" Piping. Just for additional cost of diff. couplers and diff piping.

"well, i know the prices for JUST the FMIC, which is hardly a kit, so i cant really tell you how interested i'd be in this, and I am in the market to get something exactly like this"

What do you mean by that? Were selling the FMIC individually if someone doesnt need a whole kit.

Our kit will include welded pieces and all of this will be of good quality.

EDIT: Also we will be offering a kit for the SR and RB

S13 SR FMIC kit right? Because of the location of the throttle body on the cold side.

Ok...

"pictures speak a thousand words...

im interested, but i have to see pics"

We have yet to purchase any of the piping or couplings or anything. We are just wanting to find out if this would be anywhere worth the while. But if we get enough feedback this is going to go down for sure.

"hey guys...

Sure you got your ARC FMIC setup that you had to do some custom fab on but didnt you spend over $1000 easily? Were looking at the price being well under 1000 by a long shot. BTW the TB position on the SR and the Turbo Compresor Outlet position are both different on the SR than the KA. We will also be doing these kits for RB too.

I was just saying that i'm not sure how interested i'd be in it, since i dont know the pricing for the entire kit. It looks like you guys have a good kit, and if the price is right, i'll more than likely buy from you guys, since i'm tired of trying to peice shit together, and really want my KA-T

if you can, become a registered advertiser on Zilvia, i'd love to see what else you guys can bring us

i understand that monooxide.. i am not turning you down or anything.
its just that.
with the many people who do ka-t's
some people do bottom mounts
some people do custom mounts.
no fmic will be the same fitment on turbo side.
and i didnt have to modify anything
other than to the turbo side. after it already enters the chassis from the front.
which is what you would get if you were to go with any greddy kit which is super cheap.

If prices and quality are comparable to Hybrid intercoolers....then you have a market of people interested.

Due to that..I'm not interested (for now) since I have other sources available at a decent price (DIY piping is the cheapest route).

We've used Greddy S13 SR20DET IC Kits on S13 KA-T setups and they fit great!!! Just have to fabricate a hotpipe depending on if your doing top mount or bottom mount, etc.

ok...

I need a count on how many people are interested or would be interested if we got pictures of like all the stock we would have of piping, couplers and clamps and pictures of it installed(lots of pictures). And possibly a dyno chart on a DIY kit power vs our kit power. Also after we get a few of these sold well buy a HKS or Greddy kit and dyno ours against it. If we provided all that would you guys be interested? If so just say "I would be interested" and ill get a count. Even if youll be interested in just a piping kit.

Thank You,
Sean

If your wanting 6" tall because your afraid of the FMIC not getting direct airflow, then you shouldnt because its not gonna heat soak enough to matter.

Quote:

In regard to both posts

Yes maybe...we currently do not offer other FMICs. If we do offer other FMICs it will raise the price of the kit. But if you supply what intercooler and the cheapest place you found it then we might buy it. Then sure we can use different intercooler but as of right now this is only for 23.5"x11.75"x3" or 11.75"x11.75"x3" both bar and plate. Also we could offer the kits minus the FMIC and you would need to tell us the Endtank to Endtank width and the size of the endtanks. It will just likely cost more.

SSA is now offering a full front kit with intercooler for the KA using a bottom mount, and it's damn cheap. It'd be hard to compete with that at that price range. The other issue is since the turbo placement for a top mount is heavily dependant on manifold and turbo choice it would be very difficult to cover that unless you just offered a 'starter' hotpipe that made it halfway to the engine, then the owner would only need to fab a short piece from the turbo out.
In cases like the Greddy kit for the KA, it would only suit a car with that manifold and turbo, while all the SR kits are for bottom mount only since going top mount has so many different options. Not knocking the idea, but I think you would need to at least consider the numerous options before finalizing something that would only end up working on a small percentage of cars.

Ok...as for the matching up of different manifolds and different turbos. This will be for KA24DEs with a top mount and they will have to spin their compressor housing down. If the person will supply us with where their compressor outlet will sit(while facing downward) in relation from the front upper subframe and from the strut tower we can make kits for every manifold and turbo. If they cant supply the manifold they'll use then the FMIC piping can be made with up to +/- 1/2" in any direction or we can just not include the very last piece of piping. In any kit you buy it wont be 100% perfect for your particular setup.

Now as for the SSAC kit($425 and $495) is in Stainless Steel piping which is not only way heavier but has lower heat dissapating properties. Not to mention these kits are for the SR with the bottom mount turbo. Also from alot of the horror stories you see one would have to ponder...is this FMIC gonna have like a 9 psi drop. PLEASE DO NOT TALK ABOUT SSAC AND THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK IN THIS THREAD OR ELSE IT WILL GET HIJACKED.

We could also do a Mild Steel(maybe SS too) setup for alot cheaper.

Thank You.
