good info, i think i might try the 248/232 setup, im running 248/248 and love the sound but i lost a good amount of low end and cant really make up for it in the top end cuz im close to redline when it starts to pull. hows the sound with 248/232? lol i might just stay with the dual 248 becuase im not sure how much of a difference i'll feel with swaping in a 232, and you gotta love how it growls with dual 248s, haha

Well I swapped in a cam to the intake side, but I didnt notice much difference over the 232/232 cam setup and Im wondering if I have the correct cam in there. The cams I grabbed came from a 91 hatch, and I used the green cam since they were out of the car. Ive heard that the colors were reversed from S13 to S14. Looking at the JWT website his look to be in the same order as mine. Pictures of my cams before I pulled the intake side...
Im thinking either with the change of overlap my timing was retarded a bit, or I've got a 240 cam on my intake side isnstead of the 248 which I planned on using.

form what i have read, and reviewed in this thread, S14 with the swap should have two oranges, not an orange and a green. feel free to correct if wrong, but that is the findings, so if your swapped and have a orange and a green still, you didn't sue the 248 nissandr1ft.
and due to the Rb25 showing up soon, i will not be doing this cam swap anymore. |

The exhaust cam originally in my s14 motor was green, but yeah now I have 2 green cams. I dont know if this explains anything, but you do here more intake at WOT and the exhaust seems a tad quieter. The car doesnt "feel" as fast as it originally did, but my butt dyno isn't always right.

great thread. I did my cam swap like 3-4 years ago and just matched the colors lol! So I think I will go back and switch the in/exh. I hope I still have my stock cams so I can try out the 232 on the exh.

i think this is just one guys opinion from 2+ years ago. As far as i know the 248/248 is the best oem upgrade, especially if you have adjustable cam gears. I plan on putting in my dual 248's next weekend.

you need to remove/cut/grind a dowel at the front, no biggie This is the motor we just finished putting together: - deburr block and head - SOHC pistons - custom cometic headgasked after piruating (sp?) the head to get 11:1 comp - pro port and polished head, Ferrera stock intake and z32 exhaust valves - 248 intake/exhaust cams (chain needs to be offset ~4 teeth) - EGR blocked off, coolant to TB plugged, swirl control off - stock auto ECU, intake, exhaust, 91 gas etc. Impressions: holy chit! car has excellent torque and response comes alive around 4000rpm and makes power to redline I want to put together a supercharged KA but now I'm thinking I need one of these motors on one of my cars aswell we think that with SR injectors, bigger TB, MAF, exhaust, Nistune there's still a good amount of power to be gained and that's before any real 'trick stuff' |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ----- To clear some cornfusion, here are some pics of s13 and s14 cams. Take note of the color and the front timing gear pin alignment for intake and exhaust. Both pics show s13 (91-93) int/exh cams on left & s14 (95 1/2 up) int/exh cams on right. ![]() ![]() On The Left ---s13--- (240 intake - 248 exhaust) Intake = Green (Pin Straight Up With 1st Cam Lobe Straight Up) Exhaust = Orange (Pin near 9 O'clock or On The Left Side With 1st Cam Lobe Straight Up) On The Right ---s14--- (232 intake - 232 exhaust) Intake = Orange (Pin Straight Up With 1st Cam Lobe Straight Up) Exhaust = Green (Pin near 9 O'clock or On The Left Side With 1st Cam Lobe Straight Up) ~mario
