Getting the right size tires in four easy steps, step #5 is optional:

1.) Go to Big 10
2.) Walk up to the sales counter
3.) Slam your fist down (make sure you do this hard enough so the counter shakes)
4.) Yell "ADVANS"
5.) Ask for the upgraded $5k tranny so you can go over 130mph.

205 max on stock rims. Go bigger and the more lame it will look.

You can go as wide as you can, but at some point the sidewall won't be vertical any more, and any slight turning will cause the tread to roll over onto the sidewall.

This means that you have no handling.

I would not go more than 205mm, or 215mm at most. 225 would be pushing it.

Yeah I don't know if 225 is accurate, I have never tried to run it, but I have used calculators online for tire sizing and 225 w/ a certain sidewall height (i forget what but it is in only 1 size) is what it said you can run at max...

you can go with a lower sidewall height if you want, less sidewall flex is a good thing

195/60-15 and 205/55-15 are OEM sizes. Anything different and the speedo will be off.

This statement is relative to a speed. Therefore, the statement is meaningless without a reference speed.

Speedo errors are stated in percentage. The faster you go, the higher the numerical difference.

+/- 3-4mph at 10mph is a huge difference. At 60mph the error would be 18-24mph difference.

+/- 3-4 mph at 100mph isn't so bad, and most stock speedo have this much tolerance built into them so it's not a big deal.

Legally, if you change any ratio in the drivetrain, you have to recalibrate the speedo as well. Please don't comment on not caring about what the law is. I'm simply advising the OP of his options. It's his decision. Our job is to help him make an informed decision.

i promise your speedo will not be 24 mph off with any size tire on a stock rim

our job is to help him make a decision based on our OPINIONS, my opinion is: who cares about the speedo.

I ran 225/50R15s on my old S13 coupe, on stock wheels. Of course, I was also an idiot. Go with some 195s or 205s. Bleh.
