Ok...the whole contortioning of the word rice is pissing me off.  It's killing creativity.  Rice is displaying emblems and stickers of stuff you don't have...can also carry over to a large tip on tiny stock exhaust piping (implying an exhaust system you don't have) or maybe chrome hub caps (implying expensive rims you don't have).  It is nothing more and nothing less.  BTW, the GTR emblem is rice.  Any other custom modifications have only to do with taste.  Rice has a definititon...but tastes differ.  What one person thinks looks cool, another might think looks hideous...doesn't make it ricey, it's a difference in taste.  Some people aren't as interested in going fast as they are in customizing interiors or putting together monster sound systems or custom fabricating elaborate exteriors.  Those types of modifations might not be in a racer's taste, but it's not rice!  If everybody followed some of y'all's "definition" of rice, car shows would be boring as ####.
STOP KILLING CREATIVITY!!!

Of course, non-rice things such as 3ft. wings on Echoes, 'custom' wooden body kits, and such are considered tasteless by the majority and should be avoided.:)

And BlueSix, nice car (except for that mis-badging).  Being a speed freak, I spend my money and time making my car faster so I wouldn't do that to my car personally....but I commend you on your invested time and money into a car you clearly have a passion for.

Exactly what I said, maybe just one grain, not fifty pounds of rice...

Somebody lock this topic, please? If I were BlueSix, I'd get pissed off a long time ago. Good job taking our s[bleep] dude!

Basically, bluesix, everyone is going to have an opinion on everything (especially whats rice or not), but what really matters is your opinion of it (after all, its your car).
But to summarize peoples opinions:
- the gtr badge is ricey (maybe replace it with a nissan badge)
- no one has had anything bad to say about the custom seats and interior, only compliments
- no one has really criticized the gauge cluster (but you have had compliments)
- lastly, the neon is borderline, some people like it, some people don't, some peole think its rice, and some don't. It all depends on what you think looks good on your car.

Just saw the interior pics now. What you did w/ the b/w color scheme and the seats is pretty cool. I like that.

Lose the pep boys style steering wheel cover, tho! If you've done so much other expensive stuff to the car, why not get a custom wheel? Or have your current one leather wrapped again? Whatever it's present state is must be better than the cover you've got on it.

BTW, is that an empeg you've got playing in the video? If so, I'm #### jealous!
</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>

Yeah I don't much like the steering wheel cover (sorry Transient), but I was sick and tired of looking at the ripped leather on the factory wheel... I am either going to buy a replacement from a junkyard or else get a custom wheel if I can figure out how to relocate the cruise control buttons... anyone have any ideas about this?

Yeah, it's an empeg, and I love it.. I have around 2,500 songs stored and it's somewhere around 1/4 full.... It's a really nice piece, if you can, grab one, they are great.. www.riocar.com is the new site.

Hey I just want to say thanks you guys for all the comments, I appreciate everyone's input whether positive or not..
I am definitly gonna swap the GTR badge out with something else, I never really intended to have it in there it was just a case of my having the GTR emblem and noticing that it fit perfectly into the ashtray insert as I was making it.. So in it went..
I think I'll put a Nissan logo there, since I don't think that a Silvia emblem would fit (too long) unless I got one of the ones that just has the stylized 'S'... &nbsp;I do like those kind a lot though... &nbsp;Anyone know where to find them?

I used to have a pep boys wheel cover, was just this black ribbed stuff. &nbsp;It was cool that it was grippy and didn't get hot in the sun, but it was pretty ugly. &nbsp;I didn't realize how nice the stock steering wheel was until I took the cover off last spring. &nbsp;Mine's cracked as well, but still, it's so much nicer - even just the way it feels.

BlueSix, in the end, it's your personal ride, so do what you want with it. &nbsp;You def. don't have the ricer mentality, at any rate, if you were able to take that much criticism and be objective about it. &nbsp;It's all good.

I personally like the stock wheel's feel way better than the cover... The cover makes my wheel feel too 'fat' and I can't let my hands slide across it as fast as the factory leather.. &nbsp;Oh well the cover is staying until I get a new wheel... Anyone know how much I should pay for one at a junkyard?

I agree. &nbsp;Why can't we be creative? &nbsp;What's wrong with that? &nbsp;Just cause some people like to flashyf, it's rice? &nbsp;Bullshit! &nbsp;Blue-six, don't throw off the neons cause some folks didn't like it. &nbsp;If you like it, keep it. &nbsp;Creativity is what makes you unique from the rest. &nbsp; &nbsp;

So basically the general feeling I'm getting is that I should get rid of the neon, redo the interior to look like stock, replace the seats with old cloth ones, but buy a bunch more GTR emblems and stick em everywhere right? &nbsp;

=P

Thanks again for the input and especially the complliments, guys (and girls)!

I think your hard work and effort are worthy of mention. &nbsp;I mean you did spend a lot of time on this work i'm sure. &nbsp;The neons are neat, Just what funtion do they serve? &nbsp;For show purpose how bout at Kit? or nice bomex wing? &nbsp;Nice Jap wheels or something. &nbsp;

The neons aren't that bad, just not my style IMHO. &nbsp;The $10 GT-R.. it's got-to Go! &nbsp;

I'm with everyone when I say lose the badge. &nbsp;I'd say get a Nismo badge if anything, and make it vertical, instead of facing you, just looks cleaner. &nbsp;But overall, I think you've done a great job with everything man, now add some more power mods!!..........haha, lata.

Dude!! Do us modem users a favor and format that picture please!! &nbsp;It took me 4 minutes just to download!! &nbsp;And as far as I'm concerned, I feel sorry for you and I hope everything is reversable!! I hate interior modifications however, but if I did like them that looks cool, the door looks like it was done well, which is better than gay and shitty!!! &nbsp;The cool thing about a car (and life in general) is if you think it's cool than it's cool! &nbsp;Just like today, I got flamed by some chick today in a 93 Civic because I drove a &quot;No Name&quot; car. &nbsp; Funny. &nbsp;I though I had a cool car! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Number 1, I HATE neon. &nbsp;However, it doesn't look that bad, and the install looks nice from the pics.

Number 2. &nbsp;Other than that, lose the GT-R badge. &nbsp;I'm not sure why stacks of nuts were used as spacers, but IMHO that looks pretty tacky, as well as the tabs used to cinch it down. &nbsp;If you could make it flush with the console, then yeah, go for it. &nbsp;However, I still think it should be something other than a GT-R emblem.

And it really doesn't matter, because you're going to do what you feel is right. &nbsp;However, should zilvia.net become a realm of neon, dropped, bagged show cars, I will just disappear into cyberspace. &nbsp;I don't think it will though, and besides that I'm sure a lot of people think: &quot;What the ####, doesn't he ever wash his truck?&quot; &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Customized looking cars seems tacky, sometimes even childish... depends how it's done though!! I'm always finding exceptions... I guess I just cant' see showing for a job interview in some fucked up multi-color car with shit all over the dash... my opinion!
