^^ HAHA I was coming to post that!

Quote:
n recent days, the Magic have shifted their attention away from the ongoing trade talks and focused on persuading Howard to remain in Orlando. Hennigan and his staff will travel to Los Angeles later this week to meet face-to-face with Howard and deliver a presentation designed to persuade Howard to return to the Magic. Hennigan is determined to fix the strained relationship between the player and the organization, and he’s hopeful that Howard will resume his career in Orlando.

Hennigan asked Howard to drop his trade demand during a phone conversation two weeks ago, but the six-time All-Star reiterated his desire to be traded. Now, however, Howard has agreed to meet with the Magic and sources within the organization are optimistic that they can change his stance with this pitch.
Fucking Dwight, just come out and say you want to play for team X or stay in Orlando. Stop allowing Orlando to play games. Just have this end, already.

While that may seem fair, the fact is that in a world where Kevin Durant is worth 5/$85mil there is no way in hell Westbrook should be getting 5/$80mil. If OKC had not blown the bank on Westbrook, they may have had more to spend on Harden. As I understand it, they were “only” like 4.5 apart, and OKC wasn’t willing to spend it.

Oh well, he will have to start now, and he will have to put up numbers consistent with his pay grade as well, we’ll see how this plays out.

it goes both ways...

lin is smart enough to acknowledge knicks lux tax and not listen to his agent. didnt have to sign a poison pill. he got nervous that he hadn't gotten any contact and shallowed the poison.

dolan got his butt hurt and refused to match it.

grunwald is doing a great job. the whole test your FA and match any contract was just a bluff to detract any team looking at lin. i think if lin hadn't sign, knicks had eye on felton waiting to snatch. ray would have taken a smaller contract (like brewer) just to rejoin the knicks. then sign lin allowable max.

greed is one of the 7 deadly sins, lin.

but, whatever. i'm liking the roster grunwald is building. if everbody stays healthy, the knicks is good.

You are commenting to lin that greed is one of the 7 deadly sins? Jesus, look at the roster that NY has. Look at all the bloated contracts they have swallowed over the years. All the "stars" that go there are there for a pay day, not to win games.

You’re wasting your time with him.
Whatever ills befall the Knicks can NEVER be the fault of the organization or anyone currently employed by them, no matter how obviously at fault they may be. If there is a former Knick or Knicks rival to be blamed, then you do that instead.

Lin was only offered one contract by the Rockets, not two and made him sign the one with the bigger pay day at the end of year 3. There was never a 4 year 28 mil contract on the table to begin with. If you actually researched it, it was always 'sources say', but nothing was concrete until the 3 year 25 mil contract showed up and it was signed.

To call him greedy is ridiculous. Besides, if I were Lin, I would have signed it regardless. It's not his fault that the Knicks would have been over the cap by then.

I don't get how hard is it for people to understand that.

lol, i dont know if you're keeping up. but, all teams are cutting back and vet proven players are taking less. old contract are old contracts, all you have to do is ride it out.

if he sign it, not because it was the only contract. because, it was a whole wald of cash instead a chance to play with a acf contender team... then you're greedy. amare and melo (allstar proven players) max contract was greedy. but, they ain't the one with a religious profile. the type of eposure he's getting is SAS is blowing up lin's character.

i'm over it, houston can have their poisons. grunwald has built a better team.

Reaction: Ronnie Brewer and Pablo Prigioni - Knicks Blog - ESPN New York
Quote:
BREWER: Say all you want about the Knicks letting Jeremy Lin go, but they've been smart about their money this offseason. They've landed financial steal after financial steal. Jason Kidd (about $3 million per year), Marcus Camby (about $4 million per year) Raymond Felton (about $3 million per year) and now Ronnie Brewer (about $1.4 million for one year). In fact, during Brewer's career in the NBA, his salary went up each season from 2006 to 2012, the last in which he made $4.7 million with the Bulls.

Three-team trade could lead to T'wolves signing Andrei Kirilenko - Yahoo! Sports

am i reading this right?

kirilenko spurns russian billionaire because he believes the 1.2M vet minimum is too low. instead, he is looking for about $8M/year and Minnesota is willing to give him that!?

does any team need a sf like him who is injured most of the time and has nervous breakdowns and cries because of his diminished role with the jazz? and that happened a few years ago. i don't even remember hearing much from him since then. i think his role going forward should be coming off the bench and $8M for that is a lot.

Minnesota and phoenix have been spending a lot of money this offseason and seems to be signing guys just to use their cap space and rebuild. reminds me of when joe dumars had a ton of money to spend, but no good free agents, so he got charlie villaneuva and ben gordon.

Wow, Rob Hennigan looked like a complete idiot in the meeting. Read: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap..._With_Hennigan

Select quotes:

Quote:
Hennigan’s pitch to Howard had a heavy focus on the two men developing a relationship that would be valuable to the Magic moving forward. He expressed a sincere interest in getting to know the six-time All-Star and working with him to improve the team. Howard, however, was expecting an outline of how the team planned to improve and get back to a championship-contending level, something he didn’t receive during the hour-long meeting, according to sources.

Howard was staunch in his stance and again made it clear to Hennigan that he has no desire to return to Orlando. He told the 30-year-old general manager that he would “never sign another contract with the Magic,” sources tell RealGM.

During the meeting, Howard informed Hennigan that he would be willing to re-sign with the Lakers at the end of the 12-13 season if the two teams were able to complete a trade. The scenarios Howard was open to during the meeting were: An immediate trade to the Lakers, a January trade to the Brooklyn Nets or a clean break at the end of the 2012-13 season. But he was clear that he would not return to the Magic, choosing to leave as a free agent after the season, sources said.

Hennigan informed Howard that he didn’t have any deals in the works and wasn’t quite sure how to respond to what he was told, according to sources. Hennigan was non-committal on any of the discussed scenarios as the meeting ended.

Hennigan’s noncommittal approach has only frustrated Howard more as it’s believed that several acceptable offers have been presented to the Magic only to be turned down due to a lack of a true intent to trade him, sources said.

There is now a belief that Hennigan and the Magic have half-heartedly entered into trade talks, resulting in frustration among the many teams rumored to have been included in the ongoing negotiations.

Wow...would you really wanna play Howard this year if he has absolutely nothing to give to the team. I go a feeling he'll be playing like Star-bury this year. Sit on the bench, collect his money...play half hearted if he is on the floor. Did the Magic find a coach yet?

sometimes guys say dumb things like when Monta Ellis said he is the 2nd best player in the league next to kobe.

felton also said he's not fat. i don't know about that.

still, at least he's a legit point guard. maybe undersized and better suited coming off the bench, but still as good as any point guard the knicks have had in the past few years.

But don't forget to notice that the best player in the NBA scored the most of the points.

The only reason it was even that close is because Coach K is a fucking retard for not letting Melo get the same playing time he did against Nigeria.
It would only make sense, as he had inside information on Linas Kleiza, who went off on them for 25 points.

Source close to talks tells ESPN that trade call with league office has been scheduled for Friday morning to process four-team Dwight deal

A four-team trade that would send Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers is complete, multiple sources told ESPN on Thursday night.

A source with direct knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com's Marc Stein the Lakers will receive Howard, the Denver Nuggets will acquire Andre Iguodala, the 76ers will receive Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, and the Magic will get Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic and one protected future first-round pick from each of the other three teams.

In addition, the Magic will be getting other pieces, including 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe Harkless, a source told Stein.

Howard
Sources close to the process told Stein and ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne that a trade call with the league office has been scheduled for Friday to secure the necessary NBA approval to make the deal official.

Lakers forward Pau Gasol had been in and out of talks, sources told Shelburne.

Earlier Thursday, Yahoo! Sports, citing sources, reported that talks of a four-team trade involving Howard have taken place this week and have "grown serious."

Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard that Philadelphia has not spoken to Bynum or his representatives, and has no assurances he will sign a long-term extension with the team.

More on the Lakers

For more news, notes and analysis of the Lakers, check out the Land O' Lakers blog from the Kamenetzky Brothers. Blog

"The Sixers are willing to take a shot (without Bynum's commitment)," one source said.

Although Bynum signing an extension with the 76ers is not out of the question, according to a source, his stance all summer has been he only will sign an extension with the Lakers.

Bynum, who grew up about an hour away from Philadelphia in Plainsboro, N.J., could sign a three-year, $60 million extension this season or wait to become a free agent after the season and be eligible for a five-year, $102 million deal.

Near the end of July, Howard met with Magic general manager Rob Hennigan and reiterated he still wants to be traded, and if he isn't, will leave the team as a free agent after next season.

The Lakers' position on Howard has remained relatively unchanged for the past few months, league sources familiar with the situation told ESPNLosAngeles.com. The Lakers always have been willing to trade for Howard without assurances he'd re-sign with them after the season, believing that once Howard experienced a championship culture, he would want to stay.

how mad would you lakers fans be if d12 doesn't sign an extension and leaves after 1 season?

or would it just be meh? since all you're losing is bynum and he was probably going to leave anyways.

I wouldn't be mad, Kobe is on his way out, I've been preparing for a rough ride for a while.

OKC is still the team to beat in the West, however Lakers are a serious contender for a title. Can't wait to see those matches and of course Lakers vs. Heat.

Looking forward to seeing what Philly will do with this new roster.
