why are knicks fans mad that lin signed with houston? they should be mad at ownership/management for not matching or not being more aggressive in pursuing lin in the first place. knicks could have just matched, but i guess this guy named James Dolan wouldn't pay out the pocket for lin. did they really think that lin would come back and play for peanuts?

Johnette Howard -- Minus Jeremy Lin, Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks better win - ESPN New York

Good article. I have never liked the black-hole called melo. I guess they will barely make the playoffs.

Jeremy Lin confronts critics - TrueHoop Blog - ESPN

Looks like our resident Knicks know-all is actually just as stupid as he presented himself to be last season.

Right now, the Knicks would be starting Felton (probably), Gucci Mane, Melodrama, Amar’e and Tyson Chandler…
They'd so best to let Baron Davis either retire or go elsewhere, but with their history of paying the wrong person, they will retina him, lol

My friend had sent this to me earlier...I swear, The Cavs and Lakers are ready to make this happen (from all of the reports that I've read/hear on talk radio) but it looks like Magic are dragging their feet?!

I want this to either happen NOW or just come out and say that it's not going down so that we can all move on...

LAS VEGAS – The Board of Governors on Thursday voted to expand the use of instant replay beginning this season and indicated that advertisements on jerseys, a revolutionary idea for the league, will be coming as soon as 2013-14.

The board – an owner from all 30 teams or someone on their behalf – approved replays on three fronts, without vote totals being released:

Referees will call “Flagrant” on the court and immediately use the courtside television screen to determine whether the foul was Flagrant 1, Flagrant 2 or actually a common foul. Previously, any changes were made following a review by the league office at least a day later.

Referees will use replays in the final two minutes of regulation and all overtime to verify block/charge fouls that involve whether a player is in the restricted area.

Referees will use replays in the final two minutes of regulation and all overtime to review goaltending calls. Non-calls will not be reviewed because that would require stopping play.

While no vote was taken on putting advertisements on jerseys for the first time, the discussion in the ballroom inside the Encore hotel on the Strip showed a strong preference to move forward, deputy commissioner Adam Silver said. The final decision will likely come in an e-mail vote in September and be implemented for 2013-14, giving teams the chance to line up sponsors and uniform makers the time to add the patch of 2 ½ inches-by-2 ½ inches just above the heart.

“My sense is that every team would do this in some form,” Silver said, indicating the mass support for the idea that has been years in coming, not to mention the mass support for the $100 million annually he estimates would be generated with the new revenue stream.
Also Thursday, commissioner David Stern said the sale of the Grizzlies from Michael Heisley to Robert Pera is proceeding and should be finalized in “the next couple months.”
Also Thursday, commissioner David Stern said the sale of the Grizzlies from Michael Heisley to Robert Pera is proceeding and should be finalized in “the next couple months.” Governors Expand Instant Replay, Approve Jersey Advertisements « NBA.com | Hang Time Blog

I don't mind the change, (The flagrant change seems amazing) I just hope it doesn't make the games tedious. I kinda wish there was a time limit on the review, but whatever. Refs need either a larger screen courtside, or they need better tools to zoom in and out. Some plays are just way too close to be viewed adequately on a 20" monitor, or whatever smallish screen they keep courtside.

“I think it’s too much, I think they're gonna look back three years from now and say we maybe could have used this to go out and get another player,” Stackhouse said. ... “I think it’s going to hamper them.”

Lin “was great” for the Knicks last year, Stackhouse said, but even “the cable man” – Knicks owner and Cablevision head James Dolan – said it “was a little bit too much.” Stackhouse feels that Raymond Felton, who the Knicks acquired in a sign-and-trade with the Blazers last week, is “a better point guard than Jeremy Lin right now.”

Stackhouse, who signed a one-year deal with the Nets earlier this month, also doesn’t think the added marketability of Lin due to his Asian American heritage will help in Houston.
“I don’t think they’re gonna sell that much [merchandise],”
Stackhouse said.

D12 is an ass! He spent all of last season asking to be traded. Then when the season finally draws to a close guess what! He signs a 1 year extension and says he is too loyal to Orlando. A couple of months later he is back to square one. If you want to be free to choose which team you play for you should have become a UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT. Idk what was going through his mind. You had to know Orlando was only interested in trading you and getting the best possible deal for themselves. He is a just stupid, and whatever sports agent or friends he has in his circle are steering him in the wrong direction.

Fuck Dolan, Melo, and Knicks FO.. letting Lin walk for nothing. Shit was personal and I hope they lose twice as much by next week. If Melo and this AARP Knicks club doesn't pass at least the first round, Nets will be my favorite team in NY.

And there is the problem with Melo opening his shitbox and commenting on Lin's contract and also claiming that he's tired of being blamed for everything. Now Knicks fans are demanding him to get out of the first round or they will jump ship. And you know what? They are 100% right. The Knicks franchise has failed their fans for far too long and now their loyal fans are seriously starting to show their anger. To think that Dolan decided not to match Lin's contract because he did exectly what Dolan asked him to do is bullshit.

Looks like the Nets will be NY's team now. Good for them, their FO knows what they're doing.

if the only reason dolan didn't match was because of a personal grudge then shit in new york is fucked, but everyone knows he's stubborn and won't back down. carmelo is his guy and he won't admit mistake.

i'd like to see a NY and Brooklyn rivalry, both teams seem flawed and not ready to compete but both boast star power.

I can't say one bit that I blame you for your anger. The Knicks fans using this as a jumpoff point to blame Jeremy Lin for doing EXACTLY as he was told and getting his motherfuckin' money instead of taking an insultingly low offer from a shittily-run organization are the problem.

That and they're still pulling alot of the Chinese viewers/market even tho Yao retired. Replace him with another Chinese and viewership will be back, or atleast stop/slow them from jumping ship.

Did the Knicks even offered Lin a contract to begin with? My undestanding was, they were being cheap and figured nobody would pay Lin crazy money. So they sat on their ass to see what his market value is, correct?

No, they did not.
The thing was that they did not make the first offer, instead telling him to go and "let the market show what he is worth."
After this, he was supposed to NOT sign an offer sheet, and come back to them and sign a deal based upon what he was offered.
THIS WAS FUCKING STUPID!!!
Instead, he SIGNED the offer sheet, which put the onus on them to MATCH or beat the offer sheet, and they watched a contract that will subsidize itself in non-basketball money leave because the Knicks organization is run by fucking retards.

Supposedly, dolan says that although he could have matched, he felt betrayed that lin went to find a contract and then went back to the rockets to get more money and structure it back loaded to hurt the knicks cap even more. Dolan choose not to match, not because of the money, but because of the spite he feels.

Don’t get me wrong, I would be mad too, but shouldn’t he put all those personal and emotional issues aside and do what’s best for the organization? But then again, this is James Dolan, the guy who is stubborn, disagrees with walsh after he cleaned up Isaiah’s mess, let walsh walk, and won’t listen to anyone who tells him Carmelo is not the answer because that’s his guy. I’m sure the only guy he would listen to is Isaiah Thomas.

The whole situation is preempted if he just offers Lin a contract first. He assfucked his own chances, I still can't blame Jeremy Lin

Boozer will be an amnesty casualty next season if he does not produce this year... No one is trading for him
