bearing/hubs questions

hey so there is a pretty substantial knock coming from the front of my s14 Silvia and I believe it is the hubs. I tried testing them and they needed to be repacked but all in all ok is there something else that it could be? Its definitely not tie rods or tension arms. And if I do need to replace is an s13 hub supposed to fit on my spindle because the s13 beatings were too small when I tried two days ago

S14 front bearings are diff and not replaceable you need to buy the whole hub.

Yes I know that but I'm not sure the hub is even the problem is there a better way to test them that just grabbing the wheel and shaking it?

Check your suspension coilovers/struts for play could be a bad strut does it only happen when you hit bumps or turn?

Only on bumps. could it be from having my coil overs jacked up all the way so I could simulate factory ride height for my inspection? Cuz the ride is way stiffer than I have ever had it

check your front top hat, my s13 was really bad, took my 2 pairs of front tires to figure it out. take off front struts and check for play on the top hat, mine were really bad side to side play.

I would love for it to be that easy but guess who just replaced his top hats 5 months ago haha they were the cause last time but not anymore. Good thinking though. One thing I did do was lower the car some more which took tension off the spring and the big loud bang is gone but im now hearing a soft quick almost rattle coming from that same side now

also do not forget about engine and trans mounts. when i first got my car about a year ago, it clunks really bad. found out it was bad trans mount. then i did DIY urethane motor mounts and went to install them and my passenger side motor mount just fell apart when i went to removed it lol. just logically think it out. DAMN these old cars, its like a love hate relationship. i love the car just hate spending all this money on it lol. good luck.
