I thought you guys were talking about the MZR engine in the MS3. the power drops off considerably about 1k rpms before redline. it almost feels like you hit a limiter or something

It just saddened me how the Genesis coupe gets dogged. Ppl complain about its weight but its lighter than a 350z. Ppl complain about the handling like the aftermatket can't fix that. Ppl complain about the looks like it can't be changed. Geez... It's all good though. More cheap untapped potential for the rest of us.
Oh & sidenote: early 335i coupes are about $13k now too & there are fixes for that floaty steering response ppl complain about. HR Z's are around $10k.... What a great time to be into cheap FR coupes.

That is typical depreciation. Doesn't help that the cars got interior and power boosts almost immediately. |

Yeah, but it's not like you get stuck with zero coverage. The 2nd owner still gets 5-year/60,000-mile coverage on the powertrain.... Essentially matching what most other manufacturers do anyway. My buddy's 2011 2.0t is preowned and he's had zero problems getting the dealer to maintanence it. Other than the annoying hanging revs, the car has been problem free & extremely fun. Only real problem he's had is finding someone local to reflash the ECU without bending him over first. But since he's planning on upgrading to the 2nd gen 3.8L, he's not caring too much about turbo BPU's at the moment.

for 13k youre better off getting an E46 M3, E39 M5, or older M. With that said though if you got that certain itch for easy boost, a bpu jb4 tuned n54/n55 is hard to beat.

S chassis drift easily due to bad rear subframe design(shit tons of antisquat). It shouldn't be a concern of any new rwd sports/y car.
Just give people a balanced equation of cost, weight, power, size, and handling. It doesn't need to be the best thing ever. It needs to be competent and good value.

That is what made the 240SX as popular as it is, whether you like drifting or not.
The drift craze hit in the early 2000s and the 240SX just happened to be there as the readily available/affordable platform. You can thank drifting for 90% of the aftermarket available for it and for the fact that there are still new parts being made for it today. |

Drifting has little to do with the s13 being so damned popular that it got reissued concurrent with the s14 and continuing in production near to the end of the s15.

I mean, c'mon bro... ![]() Too much fire in this chassis at the right price to ignore, IMO. And they are just gonna keep getting cheaper. What's the point in wanting an MK IV Supra at point? They're pretty much tit for tat on specs...

Gotdam! If all I need is to figure out power steering I'll figure that shit out. I've already sourced proper nonpowered racks for s chassis and electric pumps for other cars. It can't be that hard to figure out.

^^^Right?! Now... the 335i's are some heavy sumbitches @ around 3500 lbs... but so was the Supra. I park my shitbox s14 right next to one at work & I'm always surprised by how small it is for a 3500 lbs car. Must be sturdy as all fuck.

the few faults generally dont outweigh all the positives. Luxury, RWD or AWD, forged turbo I6 from factory or choice of turbo diesel, racing heritage out the ying yang. its really become the new boy racer luxury toy, people slap a tune on and some basic bolt ons and let the N54 do the rest of the work, very little mechanical ingenuity needed. edit: yea man its gotta be a tank if its going to past the rigors of german highway driving woot woot; the autobahn episode shown on history channel iirc they show an E46 crash at 100+ mph, buddy hops out like nothing happened

Now that I know that the power steering issues due have some remedies, my interest in the 228i is renewed. I mean, if the 335i started over $50k & depreciated to about $15k in 7 years... The $33k I4 turbo 228i is gonna be a steal in few years...

theres are two groups of BMW folks, old school and new school. Old school believes last great car that was put out was the E46, new school thinks n/a I6s are stupid when you have easy boost available. personally the last modern BMW im interested in is either the E82 128i w/ M Package or the E90 M3, last great n/a engines BMW produced ![]()

This is actually true. The E36 is the one that actually is considered to be the last great BMW . The E46 while being quite nice was heavier and had more electronic issues. Ya if take them and tweak them with weight reduction and whatnot they can be quite cool. They look nice too, but they are not quite at the level of real feel of the E36. IMO

Recently saw a commercial for the Cadillac ATS coupe. Had almost forgotten about that one. Didn't look as bad as I remember it looking. I remember most reviewers said the sedan was even better than the outgoing 3 series sedan, except for the crappy trans mated to GM's ecotec. I hope they improved that for the coupe... I guess it's supposed to be marketed against the 4 series now that it's starting at $41k...
