I am in a confusion sorta. I've heard that insurance companies require you to report mods on yer car to them. Seems reasonable to me. Now as i would guess once you report a turbo on your car, they are gonna raise your insurance freakin high. And as i understand on the other hand, if you don't report and get in an accident, the insurance company may refuse to pay....
So now my question is... how far can you go without reporting stuff to the insurance company and still staying on the safe side (meaning get insurance to pay if you get in an accident)? Thanx Kre |

This is just me but, telling the insurance company about your mods is like a highschool kid telling their parents where they're really going at night....I say they don't need to know.

Well yeah. But then imagine you wreck your car and the fact of a turbo under your hood gets out. I've read that in these cases an insurance company has all the rights to walk out one you and not pay the damage to the person you hit nor the damage done to your car.... That's my concern... not that i happily wonna go and tell the insurance what i have <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

That is such crap. What you do to your car is your choice, they shouldn't be able to drop you for anything unless you get into a few accidents.

i not sure if you have to tell them and they dont raise your insurance rate because of parts. well at least state farm doesnt. tell them and keep your reciepts and if your coverage has enough money they will give you money for the mods that got f*ed in the accident.

With my insurance company, it wasnt so much so that they could raise the rates but to insure the parts if they are destroyed in an accident or stollen. I reported my stereo system on the form so that it could be replaced under comprehensive(i think thats the one) insurance if it were stolen.
