yeah...im sure everyone would agree Nissan JDM OEM aero is in bad taste...i think you are all alone on that one...and if you dont like it thats fine, i get compliments every day. low can be cool, but too low is just pointless for anything but a style. and a proper setup, as mentioned, will work well.

i have everything but the 3 rear arms pretty much, i'll get some RUCA's to help with tire wear, but otherwise i wont use the extra arms to my advantage and i dont believe in buying parts that im just going to be able to type on a "mod list" and not actually get proper use out of em.

those who complain about ride quality, either don't have all the suspension arms, or aren't riding on quality. Not to mention the fact being slammed on 15s/16s is idiotic, that's just asking for problems, go with 17s/18s. You won't have to worry as much.

OK, how can any one say that bigger rims are better for performance. The ONLY thing big rims help with is tire deflection with non R compound tires, and fitting brakes. Do you ever see real race cars with ubber small sidewalls? Look at fuckin F1 cars. They have like 12" wheels. Big wheels however do hurt you tremendously. There heavy, so you need big brakes to slow them down. They also put the center moment of intertia further from the center (making it harder to start and stop), clearence issues, tire prices, ect ect ect..... The only reason you people put 17-18's on your car is style, and for the people who really drive its for tire defection. 16's on a S13 do quite well. I should know.

Right but you ignored the fact that this is a street car and is driven daily not on r compounds so to get less tire deflection and actually get a better feel from your uber jdm coilovers ( or in his case way to stiff megans) you need a bigger wheel.

well i just got some trust coilovers a few days ago the ride is really stiff even with the rear set on 4, but i can make it softer just by turning a knob.. so im not bitching... i live in east texas and the roads here are shit honestly.... im still thinking about adjusting the front to where its a little lower.. the stiffer suspension is amazing when your flying around corners on back country roads

yea the negative camber in the back is f'in horrible.. but that will be fixed ina few weeks when my stuff gets here...

YOu are stupid to worry about 'axle angle' these cars don't have super sensitive axles that fall aprat if the angle if off. YOu will break them from crashing ot a whole lotta HP before 'bad axle angle' will do anything.

The increase is the less tire deflection because of the smaller side wall. This is irrelevent on a real race car, and IMO not worth the extra hassel over 16" rims on a S13. S14's are great with 17" rims because they dont have the same poor travel in the suspension as a S13 does, so they can get away with it and get slightly better performance out of street tires. If they were racing they would be unnessicary because of the extremely stiff sidewalls in r compound and racing slick tires.

Also if you can get a light weight 17" rim, you can get an even lighter 16" rim.

OK to clarify I'm talking about S13's primarily(it also applys to S14's, but only with 18's). The lack of suspension travel (espically in the front) makes the larger wheel more problematic than helpful. You can get a lower roll center and have no clearence problems and correct linkage angles. If you put 17" (or god forbid 18" rims) on a S13 you are doing more harm than good performance wise. ALL YOU ARE GAINING IS LESS TIRE DEFLECTION. Now weigh that against everything bad that comes from bigger wheels.

More weight
decreased acceleration speed
increased brakeing distance
increase tendancy to have brake fade
rubbing (cutting throught the infumous harness in the driver side wheel well)
more expensive tires

I would rather PSI my tires a little bit more or strech my tires on a wider rims to help with the deflection with street tires. That is why I only run 16" rims.

if your tires rub on your fenders and chop up your harness, you need to learn somthing about wheel fitment. i cant help you with that. i tuck tread on 18s in front, no rub, no harness damage. and yes. more expensive tires. i can deffinitley see why that would be a concern of yours, looking at your car pic in your sig. stock bumper, skirts, rice wing, mismatched panels, mismatched wheels, you deffinitley look like a performance minded individual.

Agreed on this, but not to gang up on you Jonny.
Big wheels have serious upsides to them over smaller wheels. And in the racing world, wheel weight/size issues are compensated for by weight reduction in other areas of the car. Sure inertia in a wheel is an important issue. And if you have significant weight reduction in the car, wheel size becomes less critical incrementally. I just dropped 100 lb's from my car by
replacing the stock 60 lb. doors with 10 lb. composite replacements. Thats more than enough to compensate for 17's or even 18's. Weight reduction is key to almost every aspect of racing or drifting. Drag is a different animal because it is such a short duration event, so smaller wheels would certainly be better for that. And guys, educate.... don't hate.
