weee lol i just scooted my seat forward and it's soooo much better when i'm picking up groceries in my race car! im like ABRAWRR all the way to Von's omg!
..i doubt most people here actually drive their cars hard enough to be able to tell if their roll center is optimized. they just want to do some stupid little shit to their car and act like it's some race car technology so they can tell girls about it. granted, what you said is correct. lowered cars w/out corrected geometry handle worse. its just that.. who gives a damn. it's not like you're competing for .1 of a second or anything. in short, a dumped car that still gets beat is less ricey than a car with a bunch of susp. shit that sits in your driveway..

its all about the rule of diminishing returns.
low can be cool, but too low is just pointless for anything but a style. and a proper setup, as mentioned, will work well. i have everything but the 3 rear arms pretty much, i'll get some RUCA's to help with tire wear, but otherwise i wont use the extra arms to my advantage and i dont believe in buying parts that im just going to be able to type on a "mod list" and not actually get proper use out of em.

those who complain about ride quality, either don't have all the suspension arms, or aren't riding on quality. Not to mention the fact being slammed on 15s/16s is idiotic, that's just asking for problems, go with 17s/18s. You won't have to worry as much.
Still complaining about how expensive it is ??? Try this ......... save up !!!

This thread is made of ass and poo.
-Roll center doesn't matter for 90% of the people in this thread... at all. -of coarse tucking 15s isn't the best for funky fresh handling. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that out. 15s aren't the best, you don't see everyone with FNs. "Im escaping from the ways of stockness" threads. -How come noone has mentioned that hes trying to judge handling on a car with 12/10kg springs and stock 15in wheels? |

well i just got some trust coilovers a few days ago the ride is really stiff even with the rear set on 4, but i can make it softer just by turning a knob.. so im not bitching... i live in east texas and the roads here are shit honestly.... im still thinking about adjusting the front to where its a little lower.. the stiffer suspension is amazing when your flying around corners on back country roads
![]() yea the negative camber in the back is f'in horrible.. but that will be fixed ina few weeks when my stuff gets here... |

megan track coilovers have stiffer springs, but aren't revalved for the uprated springs. YOu are stupid to worry about 'axle angle' these cars don't have super sensitive axles that fall aprat if the angle if off. YOu will break them from crashing ot a whole lotta HP before 'bad axle angle' will do anything.

i run SS so i dont have the ride comfort issues but i wanted to ask a noob slamming question. i was reading up on the "how low can u go" thread and people are mentioning that they remove collars? is that even safe? also wont lowering the hell out of coils preload the spring and mess up the handling/ride?

yes your car is rice if you put shit on it to make it faster, and never race it. your car has a pretty paintjob.
ill let people make their own conclusions.

DJPimpFlex - Dunno man, I've noticed an increase in handling performance when I put the 17s on my car. Also...they do make lightweight wheels that compensate for the size of the rim.

Also if you can get a light weight 17" rim, you can get an even lighter 16" rim. Quote:
More weight decreased acceleration speed increased brakeing distance increase tendancy to have brake fade rubbing (cutting throught the infumous harness in the driver side wheel well) more expensive tires I would rather PSI my tires a little bit more or strech my tires on a wider rims to help with the deflection with street tires. That is why I only run 16" rims. |

not to mention ride quality suffers emensely.
ill never go bigger than 17". theres no reason to, and not to mention on alot of cars it looks like crap.

ok dude. you really need to stop typing. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. ok, lets disregard your comment about trying to compare f1 wheel sizes to production street cars, because i dont want to have an annurism right now by explaining how awesomley retarded/uneducated that statment is. why is tire deflection irrelevant on a real race car? that makes no sense. s13s have poor suspension travel? any idiot with dual height adjustable coilovers can set a car up to have full suspension travel. dont droop the spring and youre good. again, your comment makes no sense. have you ever seen touring cars. DTM series. le mans. jgtc. porsche cups. blah blah blah. TONS of race cars utilize 18, 19 inch wheels. the reasons have absolutley nothing to do with any of the crap you are sputtering in your post. again, s14s have less suspension travel in the front? compared to what? on what shocks? what the hell are you talking about? if your tires rub on your fenders and chop up your harness, you need to learn somthing about wheel fitment. i cant help you with that. i tuck tread on 18s in front, no rub, no harness damage. and yes. more expensive tires. i can deffinitley see why that would be a concern of yours, looking at your car pic in your sig. stock bumper, skirts, rice wing, mismatched panels, mismatched wheels, you deffinitley look like a performance minded individual. |

Agreed on this, but not to gang up on you Jonny.
Big wheels have serious upsides to them over smaller wheels. And in the racing world, wheel weight/size issues are compensated for by weight reduction in other areas of the car. Sure inertia in a wheel is an important issue. And if you have significant weight reduction in the car, wheel size becomes less critical incrementally. I just dropped 100 lb's from my car by replacing the stock 60 lb. doors with 10 lb. composite replacements. Thats more than enough to compensate for 17's or even 18's. Weight reduction is key to almost every aspect of racing or drifting. Drag is a different animal because it is such a short duration event, so smaller wheels would certainly be better for that. And guys, educate.... don't hate. ![]() Quote:
