Wow. A simple question that should have been a simple answer and we've got people flaming and dick measuring. The VH is fine and so is the LS. Totally different price points and builds.

I've seen people with unmodified cross members and custom mounts with ok hood clearance. I was hoping that if this guy's was good they had pictures of how they achieved it. Both the Mazworx and Xcessive kits seem to suck in the mount department.

Buddy started filler work today, should be painted this weekend. It's going to be Valencia orange from the BMW 1M with additional flake. Exterior of the car is metallic white with gold flake.

This is my RB that will be offsetting the orange (I'll finish putting it together this weekend)

has any of you painted your entire engine in only one color? Kind of like a diesel/industrial engine. Im asking because I just got this mr2 and im planning on pulling out the engine to re-freshen it and since Im at it I'll give it a little paint. Oil pan, block, timing covers, intake mani, head, valve covers, random pipes, pullies and transmission, all painted together using the same color, red more than likely. I dont know, I've been thinking about it for some time and i think I'm gonna do it. I think it will give the engine compartment a much cleaner and simpler look.

Think read might be a little too much.

Can't decide what color to paint the valve cover and I need an ARC coilpack cover.

If this is what you're talking about? then NO!

Maybe just the head, block, intake manifold, valve cover, and trans casing... But not the hoses, lines, pullies and such... Unless you were going for a tractor theme, I guess...

nice, that's what im talking about, I really like that look, makes the engine bay look really clean and simple really inspiring. Plus that wrinkle red is the bomb, even if it's consider ricey by many. I did my VC's wrinkle red:

Sadly that engine looks cleaner than 70% of this forum member's car's engines
Notice how every wire, hose, pipe is clamped down and held in place? Idk about you but I really like that. The thing is that that engine is dirty from oily vapors and oil leaks which is very typical on many diesel engine, and also the paint is very old, probably the original paint on that really old engine.
I was thinking something more like this:

Maybe paint the valve cover the same color. And since mr2's use transaxles and are very visible in the engine bay it will also be getting some paint. I've never done this before, im a more traditional black block, aluminum head, red or black VC, and leave the rest unpainted guy, but this time i wanna do something different, and looking at all those nice and clean semi-truck engine bays at work has affected my brain xD

I don't think it's a very good look and I do not envy the amount of cleaning you'll be doing to get a proper layer of paint to stick. Any amount of grease and the second the engine reaches temp it will just start cracking.

After taking apart the engine to work on it, I Did some cleaning up in my bay. Painted intake tube and top of radiator. Wrapped up some wires on the passenger frame rail. Ill be re-painting the valve cover to break up the black /silver in the bay.
