Hey guys, running an oem internal Wastergate actuator, and it falls off of boost at high rpm.
Does installing an HKS actuator correct this? I'm running a Greddy Profec_B for boost control, so i just need something that will maintain 17psi to redline. And if not, can i convert to external gate without permanently welding the door shut on the turbo? I plan on selling it in the next year, and don't want to weld it. And my option for going external would be extrude honed oem manifold, but what kind of wastegate? Cody, can you shed some light on this please? What does it cost for one of those manifold done up right?

[QUOTE=BlackZenkiS14;5277122]Hey guys, running an oem internal Wastergate actuator, and it falls off of boost at high rpm.
Does installing an HKS actuator correct this? I'm running a Greddy Profec_B for boost control, so i just need something that will maintain 17psi to redline. At first the oem one was fine then got stuck closed. It started breaking up afer 5k... so it was overboost and there wouldent be enough fuel. Now I'm only running the hks internal and I have no problems holding 15lbs to redline. All the people I know running higher then 12lbs break up with the profec-b. Not bashing just saying

hey guys,
I have a JWT ecu and some basic mods: 740cc, Z32 maf, GT2871R I have been running 10psi for almost a month now AFR was between 11.4-11.6 to redline I cranked up the boost to 12-13 psi today and noticed that the AFR drops to 11.0-11.2 Is it normal or should I worry about something, 11.0 is probably not bad but I was expecting 11.5 up to redline I've only done a few pulls, will the ECU correct itself to 11.5 after a few moments? *I have an AEM wideband btw I was wondering if I should be contacting Ben at JWT, thought I could ask here before.. Thanks guys |

What intake is everyone using off their 2871??
I have the 2871 and tubbed engine bay, worried about space for the intake... Filter might have to sit behind the radiatior along the frame rail. Im guessing everyone is using a custom made intake pipe? |

^But wouldn't that only be effective if the ECU/Tune was made to only run Open loop.
Cause if it was closed loop reading the O2 wouldn't it just keep adjusting the Inj PW until it either gets what it wants or can't adjust anymore?

There's no stock external gate, so I'm not sure why you're making that claim.

Mine put down 352 hp today on a dyno dynamics. .64 with a built head,S3's and cleaned up Freddy manifold, Cody ace external setup, on a pfc at 19 psi. Will post dyno chart once received from the shop. What do you guys think?

On a Dyno Dynamics, that sounds like a healthy setup/tune.
Since your head is built you should try taking it to 8k, looks like it might be nice and flat until then.

for those of you guys running exwg set ups. where are you hooking up your boost source?
i've searched and seen most people tap into the hotpipe. can't i just tap into the outlet pipe as its cast aluminum and a little stronger? thnx in advance |

I'm getting ready to put in my built SR with a 2871r (.64 housing). The head has BC springs and retainers. The only things left to order are cams.
I was originally planning to go with JWT S3s, but my aftermarket springs/retainers should easily be fair game for S4s or even C1s. Question: Would the extra lift/duration of the S4s or C1s be worth using? Presumably I'd trade off low end for high end... but with a T2-flanged turbo would the gains even be worthwhile? Would there be any noticeable gains at all? Car is used for drift events, occasional track events, and reliable street driving. Aiming for a healthy 380+ if possible, but I'm more interested in a useable powerband than peak numbers.

You need to see where your RPM's are going to be most often. If you're in need of the 3000-6000 grunt, go S3. If you're going to go with the 5000-8000 run most of the time, I'd go S4.
With that said, I'll be swapping in S4's into my car soon to see the difference. After many years I'm gonna give them a try to see.
