Nice build. I didn't read the whole thread, but I can tell you that chip in the balancer would make no difference what-so-ever. We have a pickup with a couple chips in the balancer, and it's been running fine for about 6 years and 150k miles. The belt is ribbed and auto-tensioned - it won't pop off.

What are you setting your redline at? I have a C5 with a LS1 with LS6 heads. I replaced the valve springs with LS3 springs (blue). I have mine set at 6950rpm, with a LS6 single roller cam chain. No problems in 2 years and 30k miles. Unfortunately, the cam dies off around 5500rpm, so I don't really drive above that.

If you're going with double springs, you really should do a double roller timing chain. Sustained high rpm with the extra tension of the heavier springs will definitely put extra stress on the chain. BTW, don't bother with the C5R single chain. You can get a double roller setup, including sprockets and chain for about $80. Check out texas speed. They have good prices and fast service.

Have fun spinning the tires at 2000 rpm

I was not really concern about the chip on the balancer... I already new I was going to replace it so just mentioned it had a chip... But that was not my main reason for replacing it..

As far as what my RPM will be set at. I don't know really at this moment. Also I might replace the LS2 chain with a double roller timing chain but we will see..

In an ideal world yes you would want to use a double roller setup. However the C5R has been a proven chain hence why I went with it. But the main reason is the Melling HP oil pump will NOT allow a double rolled. For me personally I am concerned more with oil (Sikky pan, Melling pump & 3qt Accusump). I plan to run a conservative redline. Just knowing the notorious issues of oil starvation with these motors in circuit racing and drifting I didnt want to take chances.

Great build so far. Reminds me of my build posts in the past where I would include different beers with pics. If you like dark and/or flavor I stumbled on this combo:
Youngs Double Chocolate Stout & Wells Banana Bread. 3:1 ratio as the banana is stronger. It's like a banana split that looks like a Guinness.

^^ I don't think that was me, since my car has been down for more then 2 months but then again I do have a lot of copy cats in SA...lol

STAGE 4: Phase 2 '"More tube chassis work"'

Okay guys it's that time again.. Now I tried to plan for my weekly updates to be about a month behind where I am actually at, but it seems like that is not going to be the case anymore.. With that being said the next weeks post should be only a week behind me and might catch up to me, if that is the case I will still try to update every week with something..

Okay let's jump into it.. I decided this week I would show case one of the beers I like from my local spot. Its from BJs Restaurant & BrewHouse, they always have there in house season beer on tap and man oh man are they good. This one is there White Beer that taste amazing,,

Okay we are trying to finish up the front tube chassis. And Russell is working on the ducting for the Radiator.

I think it is turning out pretty damn sick if you ask me..

Also sorry for all the cell phone pic, I accidentally left my camera at home so had to use my I-phone.. So sorry for the crappy pics..

Closer look at ducting... yup that is a broom,,lol

Here are the new bumper brackets...

Also I decided to remove that damn ABS system completely. Going to run all new brake line and run lines to my new ASD hydro..

Also started working on removing all the OEM harness and dash.

And let me just say all that harness and extra brackets weighed a lot. I swear all the OEM harness weighs about 40lbs..

Also got rid of all the damn metal behind the seat that used to hold the speakers and cubby holes. And man was that some extra weight I did not need, that was another 30-40lbs.

And why I'm I getting rid of all this stuff you ask?

Getting ready to have my full custom FD Spec cage installed...

Its going to be one intense cage and I just can't wait to have this finished up..

Okay that is it for now, sorry for so little pics but like I said forgot my damn camera. Also the post are going to be kind of random from now, jumping from front tube chassis and cage work.

Hope you guys like..

Next week STAGE 4: Phase 3 '"Cage work and a little tube chassis work"'

Do you have an expected finish date?

What size tires do you plan on running with those enormous 13" wide wheels?

Where do you plan on getting it tuned?

Well I can say I have a date I want the car done around but, with any build things pop up. So it will be done when it is done. Really want it done before the new drift season so I can do a couple of test days and then hit up every event I can in TX.. But we will see..

As for the tires on this 19x13 set up I plan to run either a 305 or a 295.. On my drift setup 18x12 I plan to run either a 275 or 265..

And I Plan on getting my car tuned in Dallas after Stew finishes up the wiring, forgot the name of the place... But he tunes all LS motors..
