Just finished bolting up my front bumper this morning. The only kouki brackets I bought were the two side/extension brackets and the main middle support. All the other brackets came from my Chuki front end and fit just fine with minor mods. I'm also not running a bumper support/foam.

You only have to modify the upper bracket that sits on top of the bumper under the fender by removing the little flange and making it flat. Everything else lined up, except for one bolt on each side under the headlights, and once it was all tightened down it fit just fine. You can even use the middle retainer with the rubber strips by drilling two extra holes, one on each end to match the kouki middle support.

Just wanted to give anyone a heads up that with a small amount of work the chuki brackets can be used and fit up just fine.

That's been known for quite some time now.

Even modifying the stock chuki bumper support to use a Kouki 180sx bumper foam requires very little work. Drill out a few spot welds to remove the two corner sections and you're pretty much done.

For 100% OEM fitment, I decided to buy all of the proper brackets. No modding required. Plus, they come with all new rubber on them. Everyone isn't as anal about OEM fitment as I am. So, using Chuki bumper brackets is definitely a cheaper alternative.

Super easy to find a N/A kouki 180sx. Hard to find a turbo'd version. Matter of fact, my co-worker selling his 98 kouki for $2k. Anyone interested hahaha.

I was talking to one of my buddies who's a more oldschool guy. He said when the kouki 180sx first came out, people were literally throwing away the stock aero in favor of fiberglass full/half bumpers/skirts.

It's a shame.

I easily believe that because when I first started piecing mine together everyone always hated on the skirts and people were selling barely used lips for under 200! Damn me for being unemployed and broke but I got skirts and sides for about half of what I see them going for now

OH crap your right, I didn't realize the lower pieces on the bumper where from the actual kouki bumper. I was thinking GT-1
