I own a xd45 not the m. I love it. Great, reliable gun. I have only had 1 failure to feed and I traced that to a bad magazine. It has shot all ammo from cheap fmj to hp. I have had no complaints with mine. It goes band every time I pull the trigger.

Not a huge gun fanatic, but I have gained a recent interest in them since I travel a lot for my job. Took a Missouri conceal and carry course, just waiting on the county to clear me for the permit. This is my first gun. Will be in the market for another hand gun, something a little cheaper to shoot (for fun) lol. So far no problems at all. Very solid feeling gun. I only have 150 rounds through it so far. But it feels awesome. I think I have more fun cleaning it than actually shooting it lol. The only other guns I have shot are the ones provided at the CnC course. A ruger .22 (forget model) and a ruger revolver. But I would like to get some sort of AR or AK or something similar in the future once my experience level rises a bit. Ultimate Defense (Ultimate Defense) is a great training ground if anyone wants a Missouri conceal and carry or just tactical training in general. Had a couple of out of state people in my class with me.

It is an awesome gun. We were hitting the 8 inch plate at 250 yards within half an hour of unboxing it with just the irons. It has less recoil than my AR I'd say (my AR is .223 and this is .308).

What a pain in the ass it is, to get handguns here in Hawaii. That being said, this is my first. Springfield XD9 service, 4" barrel. Feels great in my small hands. I'll see how it shoots at the range, this Saturday.

A note: ".357 SIG" is not the same as ".357 Magnum"

.357 SIG on the LEFT ............357 Magnum on the right.

...

.357 SIG is an awesome round, very fast and flat shooting (it's like a souped-up 9mm, same diameter bullet)...but it's not real heavy on the recoil (like 357 Magnum can be).

Yup, the .357 Sig is basically a 9mm bullet in a necked down .40 S&W case. My carry ammo is a 125 grain traveling at 1475 fps. A 124 grain 9mm +p is only traveling at around 1200 fps. I say only, 1200 fps is hardly slow.

I'm actually considering getting one now, but SIG's are so expensive. I also want a 1911, but those are up there in price as well. Between building my car, and now getting into guns, my financials are fucked.

Kimber makes a great product, I've got the .45 PC2 for a carry. The one thing I dislike about the unit is its finicky-ness to ammo, it only likes the good stuff and if not jammin will occur while unloading a quick clip. Went with the Wilson Combat extended clip (not in pic).

Decent kick in action...

My xdm .45 came with 3 different sized back straps. I use the #2 backing with the matching backing on the double stack mag. If any other xdm owners use a different #backing, with the matching double stack extender, want to trade out, shoot me a pm. I bought 2 more double stacks and want to trade out unused items in my case, prior to having to go buy them.

Question for you all..

I am planning to purchase my first pistol. I have shot before quite few times @ shooting range. More I live in the states more I feel I should have one for my own protection.

I have shot many different handguns. Of course I do not remember names of pistols but it was for sure .22 and .357 revolver and some more.

What kind of pistol would you all recommend for 1st time purchaser?

Also do you all think buying used pistols from gun store are ok or stick to new one?

Like those overkill clips bro

I just put a deposit on a Kriss, here in CT regulates the fun out of everythin this is Best way to find em in SBR trim. This thing shoots a .45 through car door... Person... Then out the other damn side with virtually no kick!

@ k style:

Honest answer is to see which gun you feel comfortable holding and feel comfortable carrying. Some like smaller compact 3.3 barrel hand guns, others like a larger sized. It's all about preference. Some think carrying a 9 will do, in terms of safety, but then there's people like me that think a .45 is the way to go for protection and carrying.

Grab a few, shoot the store's rental of that gun to see how it feels and fires, go from there.

@doubleR = That is sexy! Know how many pieces that Kriss breaks down into?

Titan: I think you quoted the wrong guy.

To answer H2V7's question: the only glock I'm aware of that was ever anything other than semi-auto was the Glock 18 (which neither of those are). Weapons that fire more than one round per pull of the trigger are highly regulated by the NFA and BATFE; I highly recommend reading up on these at length before thinking about purchasing any.

Getting the types of glocks he posted, and the high capacity magazines is simple enough, as long as they are legal in your city/state. I think Ohio has fairly "normal" gun laws, so the high capacity magazines should be legal there.

All Semi-Auto, hi-cap mags are dependant on the gun laws in your state, here in Texas the higher capacity the better

the 9mm uses factory glock 18 mags 33 Round capacity, the 22 uses Asian Military 29 RDS with +2 floor plates, and the 32 has one of the mags from the 22, im told it would work but i havent tested it yet.

@titan, shit is fire bro! if you look closely at the bolts with hole'd centers.... Those are slide pins and can break the gun down to bare bones in seconds, the rear folds in along the side of the gun to one hand it like a pistol! Here is a pic of it on the wall w/out the ext.

@K style, all preference bro. 22's 9's .40's are all one in the same... Target practice. I along with Titan reccomend the .45cal (research "stopping power") just takes one to knock a man on his ass. Not to mention its the caliber of choice for the Navy Seals and Texas! Lol. Personally and I'm sure I can speak for most of us car guys more power more fun and less of a chance you'll get used to and bored of it.
Lastly if u can shoot a 22 or a 9 really well chances are slim you can go Ape with a .45 on the other hand if your a Mack with the 45 a 22 is cake.

@japslapsilvia, I think all autos are a thing of the past for civilian use. Unless your from Alabama

Is the fist picture you posted a SBR or a carbine model? I know the one you just posted is the SBR. The pistol version just looks stupid.

.40 has less mass than a .45 but much better terminal ballistics. Is not just about the weight its also about the speed.

Spec Ops guys use subsonic suppressed .45's for the power to sound ratio.

.357SIG is an interesting round. As fast as a 357mag but none of the kick. Can use most .40 mags. But it's still to much of a wildcat to invest in.

Kstyle is this for Home Use or carry? Home I would get a long slide .40sw like a glock 35. Carry is all about comfort. Comfort to carry and to use. .22 to .45 can be devastating in the close ranges you will be in(.32/.35 auto crap excluded).

Class III all depends on you local Sheriff and if he will sign the paperwork. It's usually all or nothing. Ether rubber stamp everything that passes checks or nothing but LEO's.
