I kinda wanna say it's like paint, you get what you pay for. :\ My above setup was 500. (Some of that was me picking expensive colors lol).

^So what did that $500 include?

Did you bring them the calipers disassembled or did they do that for you? Did you disassemble them or have a brake shop do that for you? How much did that cost as well?

I love your freakin brakes

Lol thanks. I disassembled, it's really easy and I wanted the rebuild kits from Z1 anyway. Most places can handle disassembly.

Paint, not powder. But heres my setup

Both are the same color, just garage lighting and inconsistent editing. Also taken a year apart.

Anyone know of a place that I can send in my z32 calipers that need a rebuild. Down here in Arkansas you can't find shit!

Basically all I need is a rebuild and also one of the holes that the bolt goes in that holds the halfs together is stripped. Anyone know of a place that can take care of this for me?

I can rebuild which consists of replacing the pistons seals and hot tank the calipers to a bare metal finish. i DO NOT Split the calipers.

are the calipers aluminum or iron? if its aluminum then caliper is done with the hole stripped. if iron, if someone has a long enough helicoil then there is a possibility that it can be fixed.

My first set was 26mm in stardust Blue from eastwood.

my second set I did both front and rear in stardust black, but I wish I had done them in Translucent gold over raw aluminum or over a silver base.
You cant even see the calipers even up close you really have to look behind the wheel.

did it all with my eastwood powdercoating kit from home. did the caliper as a whole, then replaced the piston seals, dust boots, and pin hardware.

Instead of the typical sanded down metal lettering, I went for white. First I sprayed them white, then I masked off the lettering and put the black coats. Still pretty much looking the same 8 months later. Spent maybe $25 on engine paint and put in a couple hours to do it.

Yeah I like it too. But my car is driven a lot and those calipers would have needed daily cleaning which I didn't want to deal with. For all the hard parked guys it would be sick.

If I end up going with Z32 brakes rather than EVOs, how much do you charge for to rebuild them?

Umm I think your caliper is upside down. I though the bleeder valve goes on top. Love the set up though

When you guys sand off the paint for the Nissan lettering, does it need to be clear coated or is it just raw metal? I'm guessing since most of the calipers are aluminum the raw metal would be fine right?

Not powder coated, but I tried out the VHT Winkle Plus paint on my new z calipers. Wasn't too sure about it at first, but it's growing on me.

Looking good, at least you wont have to worry about cleaning them very often when they get covered in grime n brake dust lol. I painted my valve cover with that paint; it still looks like the day I painted it 1.5 years later

BTW what rotors are those?

Nice, they have pretty decent prices, I think I'll order from them once I need new rotors.

What's the process you went through to get the 4x114.3 bolt pattern on the rotors? Easier than drilling them myself lol

or maybe i should just be proper so that i dont offend anyone. okay, i'll give it a shot:

Sir Toby, you make an excellent argument and i do concur, that it is just a mechanical part and that there is no rule that says a brake caliper, or any other mechanical part for that matter, cannot be disassembled. However, the factory service manual is an excellent resource and a fine example of engineering knowledge written by professionals with years of experience hence, their words should not be taken lightly. The major factor is the risk involved, whence the risk out-weighs the monetary loss of a seized caliper. Furthermore, without proper torque specs there is no concrete or sure-fire way to equally seat the caliper halves which deal with opposing forces, and i for one can easily imagine this causing a myriad of problems from warping to uneven pad wear as these parts are constantly heat-cycled. It would be further advisable during a rebuild process to pressure test each individual caliper to ensure that they are capable of sustaining a certain level of pressure without any leakage. All of these steps should be done with care before a part of this criticality or magnitude if you will, is considered fully rebuilt and safe for sale.

As a professional with over a decade of engineering and business experience, fully believe it is of utmost importance that business owners conduct themselves in a professional manner thereby adhering to the highest standards when it comes to building and/or refinishing products for their customers, especially when in this case we are dealing with safety devices whereby their durability and reliability is of utmost importance. In closing, this is why i personally believe business owners must follow a conservative philosophy where certain risks should never jeopardize the safety of the individual.

Thank you, have a nice day and GO FUCK YOURSELVES
Were you able to find what was lodged in your rectum? Or was it just your time of the month?

Also I'm currently disassembling my 5th set of z32 calipers.. whoever says that these calipers shouldn't be split because of the chance they might strip threads and such is clearly an amature and SHOULD NOT attempt to split the calipers. Can't handle the heat? Get out of the kitchen.
