I would look for something closer to 18x9 +20. Then you could run a 235 - 255 tire and less camber. |

So I'm a newb, and don't know much on rim sizing. I currently have a celica, but i'm trying to sell/ trade it for an s14, but my parents said only if I have everything priced out. I don't want a drift car, jjust something fun that handles well, so I'm trying to figure out what rims I would have to get. The car I'm looking at has 50mm rear overfenders and 20mm fronts, but stock wheels. I couldn't find anything really helpful that I understood, other than about an 18x9 in the front and 18x10 in the rear. what offsets would I need? I was looking at a set of xxr 551's that are 18x9.75 +36 would those work?

I'm looking at getting tires in:
225/40/18 or 225/40/17 On an S13 Hatch, what width wheel could I expect to fit for 17 and 18 respectively WITHOUT any fender modifications whatsoever. |

Hmmmm can't really pinpoint on this on since I've never run that specific wheel size before. However, I've done 1810 +20 in the front and needed 3mm spacers to clear my Tein coils. I also know for a fact that 9.5 +12 don't need any either. A buddy of mine runs 9" +20 and it's fine, though he has to roll the fenders a little to clear. I'd go close to +20 on the 9" wide just to be safe if you don't want to run any spacers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What you're saying is, I could run around 18x9 +20 and be generally fine with clearance and such, but can also run something like a 18x9.5 +12? I may want to run the thicker wheels because of the concave shapes that some of them have. |

Yes and yes, though the 9.5" +12 will need the fenders to be rolled flat, the 9" +20 should be okay or slightly rolled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

my .02, I run 9.5 +12 and they poke like a mf in the rear, its a pretty aggressive fitment with no camber. I do run 235s however, so its pretty squared off. Unless rota grids fit weird id stay away from that size if you dont want to touch the fenders at all or dont want to run a couple degrees of camber

I don't mind running a bit of camber. I'm mostly looking at 225/40/18 or 225/40/17. |

You could definitely get away with a less aggressive offset, I've got a bit of room between the wheel and coil |

+20 maybe? Don't put too much stock in that though lol. I'm running 17s with a 40 sidewall (235) so you'd be good with a 225 40, 35 would tuck even better |

224/40R17 doesn't exist. There is 225/45R17, which is super common, and 225/35R/17, which is quite uncommon.
To help with your question, I ran 17x9 +20 and 235/40R17 all around on a stock body S13 without any fender modifications. This was with about -3* camber all around. Also had about 5-10mm clearance to both my Stance and HKS coilovers. So any other wheel and tire combo inside of these specs will suit what you are trying to do. I don't think I could have gone larger in any dimension. |

I'm quite new, is -3 degrees of camber a lot? |

Yes, they are nearly identical in outer diameter, only a 0.1" difference.
Tools like these are quite useful when comparing tire sizes: https://tiresize.com/comparison/ As for camber, it depends on what you mean by "a lot". Compared to a completely stock car that has -0.5* to -1.0*, then yes. Compared to a car that has an alignment catered towards track driving, then no, it's about average. Compared to a hellaflush car which can anywhere between -3* to -10* and up, then no, it's quite tame. To put it in perspective, the wheel doesn't "look" like it has excessive camber at -3*, however, you will be able to see it in the contact patch and tire wear. If it's your daily driver and you're racking up thousands of miles per year, you may want to consider a less aggressive wheel size for better tire wear / life. |

I think I've decided on some wheels and tires I'd go for. Let me know how you guys think this will fare in my S13 hatch.
MB Battle 18x9.5 +15 on 225/40/R18 tires. - Is the stretch a lot/too much for a daily driver? - Will this clear stock struts and/or coilovers? - Will this clear stock fenders? Thanks |

Yes, it will clear both. Yes, but they need to be rolled flat and you have to run some camber.

I don't mind running some camber, but I really want to avoid rolling my fenders at all costs. Any way I could avoid this besides using a different setup?

Unfortunately not, unless you want your car to look donky. Try opting for a higher offset (9" wide wheels between +20-30mm) if you don't want to modify your fenders.
