for anyone who relocated all the chassis wiring except the headlights, did you get rid of the multi-junction box (big white thing) ? pics? debating if its something i want to tackle..and how the rest of the harness looks without it. also, the diagnostics connector is built for the stock engine? and i can get rid of it?

Super Multiple Junction is what it's called, and it's very difficult to get rid of it while keeping stock functionality through the factory fusebox/relay box. It's one of the most unreliable aspects of the OEM electrical system, so I ditch it completely whenever possible.
You can remove the Consult connector without any problem, no one takes their 240's to Nissan dealerships lol.

Since the stock Consult wiring passes through God-knows-how-many under-dash connectors before getting to the ECU, I usually wire in a new connector for my Nistune'd harnesses that goes straight to the ECU. Either way.

as for the consult/nistune, im not too familiar with nistune wiring but i know i'll be using it when i finish building my motor for the car, which is happening after a season or two of driving it (so waiting for nistune isnt an option). if i got rid of the consult, what issues might i run into wiring in nistune? or is it just a matter of tapping into a few wires off the ECU. its an RB20 if that makes any difference |

for the record, im not doing it just to "look good". i do just prefer the look of no wires in the bay (more room for engine stuff, i know i was going to have an issue with my ic pipe), but also for the ease of working on it. if i know exactly how all my wires are routed, and get rid of as many connectors as possible like the SMJ, its less connectors to fail and easier to diagnose. not to mention in doing so, i can get rid of all the accessories im not using and get rid of those wires and extra plugs, meaning less wires getting in the way of diagnosing other systems.

Are there any links that go through how to do custom looms/wiring, I have a track s13 with an rb25 (i bought nit like that) and the wiring is a shit fight, I want to clean it up...tear it out and get rid of the unnecessary components but don't want to dismantle something important. Any links thread s etc???
Cheers Sam |

Yeah, he mentioned the line though.
The line can be cut down at the frame rail where it comes into the engine bay, or removed entirely... that's what I usually do. It's connected to the tank in back with a rubber hose/hose clamp and just held in by clips to the body.

I dont off hand but it really isnt that hard to just trace it, its the only hard line form the canister that doesnt just end.
on my RHD 14 it ran under the car with the rest of the hardlines. Just trace it and cut it off under the car well away from anything that could ignite |

Here's ours. 06 VQ35DE RevUp. Engine Harness is all brand new wire and pins obviously, Chassis harness is all brand new wire, pins, relays, fuses, etc. Lots of time in this!
ALSO, we're gonna start selling the plugs and pins new to support the DIY crowd.

Depends on amperage and wire length. There's a decent chart [[ HERE ]] that you can use as a reference, as well as some good reading about all the factors at play.

Economy 12 Circuit Wiring Harness - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop
Would switching out the body harness for this work? It has everything you would need to run the car. Looks like it would save me a lot of work imo. I know alot of it is for gm but you could just cut and replace plugs. |
