For me it's gonna be checking contacts/replacing the starter since it likes to not work when I drive the car on really hot days.
I have a starter with new contacts and it does the same thing! When that happens I have to hold the key and bump the clutch while the car is rolling down a slight hill and it will work.

So that sounds like it's almost in a bind. Which is something else I thought could be happening. Only problem is I don't know how to fix that problem

It's likely the contacts on the cables and connections power & ground. Buy a terminal wire brush, and a copper brush. Hit all contact points.

My friends evo had a similar problem. He left his car apart for a month and it wouldn't start. Took me 5 minutes to fix it.

due to the poor power and ground the starter wasn't getting enough power to turn over. It seemed to be weak or as if the battery was dead, but it was fully charged. The starter was also bench tested good.

I had a problem with mine where i had to rock it when I had a drift motion flywheel. Now the problem is just the starter solenoid being finicky and it does nothing from time to time. Going to take my started off and take it apart on Monday even though its new/remanufactured.

If you have and map ecu questions you best bet is to call Brian at powerhouse racing, they are the #1 us distributor and he knows it like the back of his hand
Thanks for the input, I bought the mapecu 3 and then two of the shops I thought could tune for it stopped so guess I've gotta learn it until I can go aem v1 or v2.

Mine is routed just like stock, there is maybe 1mm of clearance back there but it worked!

Put the brake and clutch pedal along with the master cylinder and braided line in.

Installed the BC 264 cams and BC cam gears. All clearances checked. Making progress!

Do you use the nismo brace? I would go this route if it clears the brace. other wise sikky would be the next choice.

Fleece was more stretchy and glued better.

I've got a weird problem that I'm hoping you all might be able to help me with. I've got a single turbo 2jz 4" straight pipe exhaust running NGK bkr8e plugs i believe. No factory IACV or IAT sensor due to atermarket intake manifold.
For some odd reason my car smokes grayish and I smell gas out the exhaust like its rich but my afr reads 15.8 to 17 at idle.
I've got the iat sensor for my mapecu 3 plugged in and I plan to install the piggyback soon but I'm stumper.

Why don't you finish installing everything then look into getting it tuned. Then see where you stand?

Good job man! From far away it looks like an aftermarket IM.

Beautiful engine bay! Which radiator did you go with? I like the way the radiator hose is setup compared to the "S" setup. Also which turbo are you dropping in her?

Just curious, what outstanding issues was he experiencing with the CB harness?

I am in the same boat as you SinCityS14. Looks like there's a USDM water pump already on my engine too. I am not going to take any chances. I haved ordered a new one for just piece of mind.

******************************************

As far as my 2JZ project.... I am still piecing it together. Right now I am focus on trying to locate a driveshaft. Can you guys recommend a reputiable shop? I have a Getrag 6sp mated with a Q45 rear.
Hey guys I believed the usdm Water pumps delete the hydro fan setups

I am running a 2j VVTi and on stock ECU, yes stock throttle body and all. Works just fine, no need to change it.

you only have to swap it out if you wanna use a standalone that does not support drive by wire

I've only ever seen people go to that cold of a plug in a 2J when they get into the 700+hp range which is why I was curious about the fuel he's running and what kind of power he's making. Just something to think about if the misfire issues resurface.
