^negative, when i start the vehicles while doing oil changes at work I usually have the funnel in place of the oil cap(if the cams aren't right under it like the ka lol) with a rag in it so it doesn't splash everywhere and the dipstick out so i can re-check the oil level after i turn off the engine.

there ARE actually some good lookin girls there, but they are either underaged or total skanks...or both hahaha

hey josh would you happen to have a tool for doing a leakdown test? like can you borrow one from work? i got a compression tool but i'm trying to figure out how to do it on an engine that's not actually mounted to a car. i'm a noob

hm idk if we have them for rent here at pep boys but i can ask if I remember. As for testing the compression of the motor on the stand I'd get a breaker bar on that big crank pulley bolt and turn the motor over.

No if your car stalls without the dipstick or oil cap thats really not good... Your car burn any oil?

You can't compression test a motor on an engine stand... You need a leak down tester or if you attach the starter you can jump it and crank the motor over. The engine needs to rotate at a certain speed in order to get correct numbers. Which is why your supposed to remove all the plugs and hold the throttle open when you do it.

tried jumping the starter but it just clicked. but i might be doing it wrong, since i've never done it before. there's a plug/pigtail, and 2 threaded bolts sticking out the back of the starter. i'm not sure where to plug the + and -, but i need to check if the starter's any good anyways so imma take it down to kragen or something and have em test it.

You gotta hook up both positive and negative to the starter itself then crank it with the wire coming off the starter...

doesnt seem to burn too much oil only add maybe a quarter of a quart every month
hey how hard to replace the input shaft bearing on my 5spd?

on the bell housing side right? you basically just have to remove the tranny case and pull it out. Why is your tranny making a noise?

Lol

Yea... i was on my way home so i couldn't stay and the cops with the tow trucks weren't to inviting either LOL. anyways my name is Garrett im 19 i go to the community colege here. that's my car i up above. got it back at the end of 2007 from a school teacher who beat the crap out of it. Took a whole year to get the thing running spent alot of time in shops. I got the car running real good, a timing chain assembly and a fresh head later, went through almost every problem these cars can give you. My father and i resotred it. got it painted. then i did the manual conversion swap myself, and a few other small things i wanted. Ill be sure to stop by next friday to actually say hi this time lol

^i think my friend andrew(KoukiDrifter240) is currently stationed in 29 palms...he drives a 97 kouki but he recently broke a timing chain guide.

if you're driving normal and you don't have tint you should be fine(roll your windows down if you have tint just to be safe)...if you have a modified exhaust you might run into some problems

we usually hang out on the west side of the parking lot near the starbucks...wessssst siiide!
