most of the cages are mig'd except for the t45 cages and back halfs are all Tig'd. tigin a cage isnt a pain in the ass, its the same process its just more time consuming to weld. the main thing id consider is which welding process are you more confident with and willing to trust your life with??? i dont know your welding skills but i never recomend someone try welding a cage unless they are insanely confident in there welds, but never overly confident or delusional. i consider myself a good welder and i even test my welds and materials regularly just incase!!! if your used to tig theres no point buying a mig to lay bird shit, but if your confident with mig then id say it would save you alot of time.

Sorry must have read it too fast or something but i thought you said that lincoln can do TIG, stick, and MIG.

It cant do all three but it can do TIG and stick obviously.

@ roco cool thanks, i just always see people MIGing cages and was wondering why.

I don't have tube bending machines, or a welder, but i do what i can with what i have lol, even though its not really fab

Today i was looking up Radiator "Cooling Panels" or covers. And noticed they were over $100, and looked pretty simple to make

So i took measurements and drew up a layout

Then i used our router to make a vinyl cut out sample

After some changes i finally cut it out of thin aluminum

And finally painted it

Ill post up the final pic wen installed

Pics might take a day to work, i had more to post. but photobucket is giving me trouble.

And here is it. Need minor little details

It's aluminum so it was easy to bend. I used a table vice and bent it slowly

Looks good, except you would normally have the x in the halo meet the little cross bars to the a-pillar. In a cage you want as many common connecting points as possible, it helps with load distribution in an impact.

this cage was custom built for an abnormally large man in a tiny car.. it was either this x brace or no x brace at all. its just how it worked out. once he gets the cage back in the car so i have weld that piece to the main hoop and rear bars you will see. Its a really interesting cage that has taken a LOT of time..

Damn some good work here the last few pages. Here is a TD06 manifold I built for an sr and a dinosaur greddy wastegate that is the size of a pineapple. Wasn't enough space to do the wastegate the way I wanted but this will do. Still a very large upgrade from what he had. Used the torch switch (using slopes) and no footpedal for the whole thing.

ok here is an odd question.....subframe bushings....i know everyone makes theirs out of aluminum, but has anyone tried plastic of some sort??? ive been looking into mcmaster carrs website and looking into delrine to make bushings out of, they give alittle, but have decent impact resistance but will be alot better than oem bushings. any idea how it would work?? the other question does anyone know the dimmensions of s14 diff bushings? i just picked up a vsld and need to know how tall to make the top part of the bushings. thanks

energy suspension makes them from polyurethane. solid, not inserts.

I agree with the above posts, but I must say delrine is AMAZING to work with. Greatest material to machine, it comes out so smooth, very nice (borat voice)

My latest pick up:

1930's Canedy-Otto 21" box column sliding head floor drill.

16-speed (8 direct, 8 back-geared, range 82 to 2100 RPM)

1650 lbs net.

Jacobs Num. 18n chuck on it as well.

Swooped it for $175 at auction lol. Everyone was afraid of moving it.

If you can afford the miller syncro 200 I highly recommend that and buy it from cyber weld. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1346190202.529220.jpg

Also using a Lincoln electric 3200HD mig welder. It's a very good mig for a 110 as long as your plugged into a socket close to the panel.
