Dash is back in. Custom switch panel installed. Backed the car out of the garage under it's own power last night

Sorry for the lack of updates but here we go.

- I started going through all the wiring jazz and got fed up with tracing all the unwanted wiring so I ripped out all stock wiring in the car and installed a painless fuse block and relocated inside the car.

-Mounted the Microtech LT10S and X4 unit in Glove box for easy removal. Even though there's no keys required your not getting very far without the ecu

-Added more support to the subframe by welding in some square tubing. Also ordered the Megan racing H brace.

-Aligned the car as much as I could

-Converted wrx power steering rack to a Manual rack

-Drove the car down the road and back

it looks like we are trailing in eachothers footsteps...i ripped my interior harness out and hard wired everything to my switch panel as well as mounted all my relays in my glove box. i put a 93' manual rack in my car (most angle of all imprezas that i know of) and now im waiting on this intercooler piping so i can start my car and see if the wiring is done right.

Very nice... You using the stock ecu? I'll have to look into the 93 rack option.

no im running Apexi Power FC. im building the motor to 350whp. there isnt an engine bay or interior harness. whole car was stripped down and was built from a bare shell.

Awesome. I will be doing the same thing. It's pretty gutted at the moment but once it's 100% on the road and makes it through a few drift events I will be tearing it all back down for new paint and whatnot.

Good work. keep it up
ARE YOU SERIOUS??

The power hahahahahah oh that is rich.....SR never even came close to the Stock power of any Subaru after 96.....and I never snapped an axle smoking 4 tires on an EJ20G closed deck stroked out to 2.2L, p&P heads, with a 2835 and Meth injection.

The only way you are snapping axles is if you are doing it wrong i.e. going to like a +20 offset (05 models and PCD 114.3 excluded

So you mean to tell me in 96-01 all the GC's had 200+ hp? do you know what you're saying? or did you hop in this thread thinking you KNOW your stuff and was hoping you'd teach us a thing or two?

I dont know if you're location is true, but if so then you know that 96+ Subarus were WRX's (in japan) which were turboed so yes THOSE ones had more HP than an SR, but not the ones out here in the states (from 93-01 they didnt even exceed 180hp..even our WRX turboed Bug-Eye barely exceeded 200hp).

Now mind you. that power is distributed between front end and rear end (Thats how AWD works buddy "smoking 4 tires"), so unless you were pushing 600+ im not really interested in your statement.

ALL 375whp of mine will be sent straight to the rear end, and i'm running 17x9.5 +22 wheels all around which is more weight. Subaru rear ends wont hold up to the POWER. especially that tiny diff with the toothpick axles. hence the reason im doing a S13 rear subframe with S13 axles.

i dunno if either one of you have an idea. my sr put down 207 stock. wrx 230 stock. both dynojet. im not gonna say wrx is superior at all (to 4 wheels yes) to two no..

you'll only snap an axle if you don't know how to launch (an awd car)... the rear would pop before anything(rear wheel), then next in line would be the sr tranny, then would come the axles.. (that also depends on what tire size your running) a wider tire=more grip=more strain on the driveline. everyone says ohhhhhh i've owned this and it had this done to it. that doesnt meant shit.. exact same car with two diff drivers would yeild way diff results (problems) if your gonna have a dick measuring contest do it elsewhere.. everyone on earth knows the stock wrx ish isnt going to last long being rwd. everyones seen the countless threads (atleast i have) sure some may hold up longer than others depending on the driver but they will all fail no matter what.

you just said what i said...in a different way. and with 375hp to the rear wheels with the combination of clutch kicking and ebrake entries (not launching)...the axles will snap no matter who the driver is. 95 impreza axles will SNAP under the power im putting to them.

As for snapping axles I was laughing at the fact he said POWER OF THE SR! The 2001 US bugeye has more power than most SRs unless you counted the S15 motor.

Also I haven't seen one snap at MSP, Ebisu, or anywhere else for that matter but then maybe the JDM models are built a bit differently I dunno.

Oh I never touched north of 600 mine was slightly north of 500 then I sold it and the guy wrecked it 6 months later LOL

well lets clarify something...im not planning on doing all this work and dropping in a stock SR...like i said 375whp and shooting for about the same in torque so when i say "power of the sr" im speaking in terms to MY SR.

This is kinda like those random obscure cars that are pretty cool to see done once. Like there was an fd with a sr20 in it at a car show I went to once before.

Looks Good.

Define complication. Entire custom front subframe had to be built, custom steering shaft, Trans crossmember had to be modified, driveshaft had to be custom built, all the wiring had to be figured out, rad mounts modified, custom intercooler piping setup. I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff but it's no where as easy as a SR swap in a 240. That's for sure.

Ohh I am picking up a S13 coupe so I can get some seat time in this summer. By next year this car should be out in full form.

Primary advantage of this is losing the *awful* subie 5MT gearbox.

Very neat.

A SR gearbox isn't much better, but it's at least cheaper.

Few steps backwards actually... I needed the engine for my sil80 so I pulled it. I have the SR that was in the sil80 but it needs a little help first.

Also, we built the mockup for the subframe but the subframe that I had "professionally built" was not quite up to par. The engine mounts weren't at the right angle and the control arms didn't line up quite right either. Everything bolted up perfect on the mockup though.
