JDM671: I actually did the brown wire mod. I hate it, because the difference between the height of both headlights when half way is about 2-3 inches. I tried this other method, because I *assumed* it gave you individual control over each side. Obviously it doesn't. Anyway, stopping the motors while they go UP gives me less height different than stopping them going down.

HyperTek: You sound like me, blind swapping B13 gauge clusters with 10 yellow/black wires and 3 green/blues wires and doing SE-R conversions to 4-doors at the age of 17. It's a great solution, but has the same flaw for me as the "cut brown wire" mod.

Q1) How do I get my headlights to sleepy-eye at the same level?
Q2) Where are you guys stuffing your relay? Right now mine is just dangling out of the relay/fuse box.

The only reason I ever wanted to do sleepy with lights on is to swap the peice of shit brick light and install my own HID's or Projectors. But I figure if im going to spend the money on this I might as well do a front end conversion or something.

I want my head lights to be bright and work like stock, so unless I modify the rod from the headlight motor I won't get what I want. I know how to do it but its really not worth my time...

if the motors are stopping at diferent points, you'll have to manually set them by turning the knob on top of the motors.

there should be an empty spot for a relay in the relay box (at least, there was in mine). stuff it in there.

Are you talking about the temp sleepy eye mod where you manually extend each eye until they are level? Or is there some adjustment I missed.

Yes, I saw this in the video... however my 1992 fastback SE has a relay in that spot. That is why my relay dangles.

the write up on nico is so much easier

1 switch, 3 wires , 6 connectors..

cut brown wire
wire through the head light fuse, to the switch

bam your done...so easy. iv'e done it about 5 times now only takes like 20 mins.

This one also catches it on the way down, right? If so, in my experience doing so exaggerates any difference in height you might have between the right and the left headlight assembly in mid-range motion. My understanding of this mod (since it used the brown wire cut trick + it allows you the ability to turn off motor control) is that it does work by stopping the motors in a downward movement.

ALSO: maybe it's just me, but with the brown wire mod... after I've achieved the sleepy eye height i want... when I then go to lower the lights after I'm done with the sleepy eye look, the motors make a horrible CHATTERING noise as it goes back to resting position.

When you use the fuse method, it stops the headlights in their upward motion... when you go to change out of sleepy eye mode they continue their natural upward motion and there is no chattering in the motor.

My previous questions still stand, Zilvia.

Point is, besides the fact this thread is old as sh*t -- if you drive around with lit sleepy eyes @ night you're a effing idiot and I hope you crash into a tree rather than my rear bumper or a pedestrian because you want to look cool going down the street.
