So since the B&M is supposedly a direct copy of the C's, does the C's rattle the same as the B&M? Anyone have experience?

wow you should read the posts above. they are not even close, and very obviously not the same. my friend was actually testing the b&m copy and had some issues with it but the newer version looks exactly like my b&m.
i guess nobody mentioned that megan makes the b&m copy, well it looks like it in the pictures.
i did research before buying one cuz i don't like the stock throw and feel, b&m is pricey but if you can get it at a good price it is well worth it. it all boils down to, that if you can afford it get the b&m, get it. if not then you got some decisions to make.

No rattle whatsoever from the shifter.

Ask and you shall receive:

C's Version 1 Short Shifter w/ Short Tomei Duraon Shift Knob. I purchased this a long while ago, when I still had my first 240sx. It was some time before I got the chance to install it, and unfortunatly didn't really get to use it that much before I decided to part the 240 out, but was sure to keep the shifter . I have my new 240 now and am awaiting my RedlineGoods.com Shift Boot, which is 1.2" shorter to sit better with the shorter shifter, untill I install it again. Soon!

I have not driven a car with a B&M Short Shifter so I can not do a direct comparison, but from what I have heard the B&M Short Shifter has some bad buzzing at High RPM's (~5000+). My C's has absolutely no buzzing, from Idle to Redline, nothing. The all around quality is great, I enjoy it very much. The 240's have a 20% shorter throw, as compared to stock, I believe it was. A very nice, and noticeable, difference none the less. I can't wait to get it installed again.

I found C's official site a while back, when the discussion came up on another forum, when they were believed to be discontinued. I swore I listed the link in my post, but I guess I was mistaken. Well regardless, the site I found had just about ALL their shifters listed at $400.00, from RPS13 to Supra to Skyline. I tried doing some more searching just now, but was not able to find anyone that is selling them, so I am assuming they're officially discontinued. nengun.com appeared to have them for S14/S15 Sr20DeT (Can also work for Ka/Rb, right?), and they were runnin' at $175.00-$180.00, but don't appear to have any left in stock.

All 'n all, If you can find yourself a C's Short Shifter, buy it and don't think twice about it. B&M appears to be a great shifter, and I had planned on getting one myself, but after looking into the C's, I felt it would be a slightly better shifter. As I said, I haven't used B&M, so I can't do a direct comparison. Also, based on research, one of the clinchers from people purchasing C's over B&M, is mainly that C's doesn't have the high RPM buzzing that most have. Ok, that is alot, I am done. Hope it helped.

Ok, I lied. The Tomei Duracon Shift Knob is very nice knob. Although it is not a weighted shift knob, the plus behind it is that it does not get hot, not even a 1* rise in temperature while sitting in direct sunlight. Felt, since it was specified, I would throw that in there.

I didn't know there was a version 1/version 2 c's. Your shiftknob, doesn't lookg any shorter, but your setup is noticeably shorter height than mines. What gives?

B&M had 2 versions, V1, and V2, respectively.

V1 had the vibro problem, V2 addressed it, and is nice and neat.

I had the v2 with no qualms about rattling or anything.

To my understanding, B&M > C's in terms of quality parts, and assembly. Maybe its just me, but the C's my buddies had in their cars felt like monkey shit.

i have a friend who currently has a b&m short shifter and he loooooves it. i asked him if it rattles and he said it doesnt. i played with it myself and its pretty damn short and notchy(some people like that).

what im wondering is if it rattles because people dont put on the top two screws that hold the shifter in place. from what i read, people just leave those two unscrewed because they're lazy to move the transmission axle down. im about to get a b&m shifter. Unless anyone is selling a C's?

Speedgod, you're right, mine is alot shorter then yours... Odd. Well, I will definately visit back as soon as I get it installed. The thread should still have some life in it when I do, lol. As far as the Tomei Duracon Shift knob is concerned, there are 2 sizes, a 70mm (Short) & a 90mm (Long) The ones that we have are the Short 70mm Version.

I purchased my C's Short Shifter w/ Short Tomei Duracon Knob from Ritz 14, here on the forums. Speedgod, you actually posted in that For Sale thread, back in June of 06:

If you decide to go the B&M route, be my guest.
Justing puting more rep out there for the C's...

I looked at your picture closely, and your actual shifter is WAY shorter than mines. Damn, that makes me mad. Gotta go find a shorter one now, but they are so hard to locate.

I was checking out rare trick, and they have an attain solid shifter. I'm assuming the throw is the same, just crispier shift changes. Not extremely expensive either, $139.00. Anyone out there, using one of these? They are pretty nice. http://www.raretrick.com/index.asp?c...roductsID=7083

SpeedGod how long is yours?.......and here come the giggles

No but seriously, is your shifter really shorter or is it just the shift knob that is a different size?
