Think about it... If you went through the trouble of somehow making a shitload of money, wouldnt you want to do things with a little exclusivity? I don't want some kid in a shitbox Civic running on the same track as me if I'm driving a 911 GT2 or something. That'd be like Tiger Woods going to a public golf course. It makes no sense.

I'm sure they'll open it to the public every now and again, but I dont think anyone should feel entitled to using this track. It's a private investment, they can do whatever they want with it.
My thoughts exactly.

While I think that this is somewhat of a dick move, given the circumstances, it's also not my money so why should I get a say in the matter?

Guys heres the deal and yeah, its mostly a rant and probably off on a tangent but whatever.

Every time I see a thread about a track that just opened up its some sob story about how its too expensive or how they won't bend over backwards to hold a drift event there for half price or something. THEY DON'T NEED TO CATER TO YOU.

Tracks don't want to cater to you because you're the poorest fuckers on the planet besides corrola owners.

Look at the grid at your next drift event, it will be soaked in oil from leaky peice of shit 240SXs. They don't want that on their track they just paid 1.2 million to pave.

To them, you're car is an eyesore, they don't care what hookup you got on your shitty second hand equips with the plating falling off, or why zipties are good for holding body kits on. It looks dumpy to them.

The way drift events teach people to learn is totally different than the way you learn to track a car, and yeah, it kinda needs to be but to them, watching you spin/off 500 times before you get the corner right makes you look like an asshat.

Yeah, that tracks 100k membership, it might be FIA certified so it can get away with it or something.but there are 1000 other tracks where member ship is 3000$ first time and like 1000$ annual.

Its a good value, you'll learn so much more lapping a track for 4hrs by yourself than sitting in grid at some shitbox event in a parking lot for 5 runs on a set of easy corners that don't teach you a skill set.

I'm about to join a members only track named Harris Hill Road, Stews already a member at MSR. its a good idea, once you're a member and paying them they care alot less about you making demands. if you make friends with one of the managers they'll generally let you do whatever the fuck you want as long as it doesn't bother other members. most of them have clauses to bring friends out, have your friend pay your track fees for the day and bring him with you.

Oh, Also, Tracks need to be members only for insurance reasons, theres not a track on the planet that will just let joe shmo show up with 100$ to run for 4hrs, if you rent a track you're basically paying the insurance for the day.

And apparently the track your complaining about has already invited a PCA club out for a couple days, all you need to register for a PCA event is a Porsche VIN, just go write one down from a mall parking lot and sign up for that PCA event and run the track.

there is no justifying arrogance.
That's the problem with being better than everyone else. People tend to assume you're pretentious.

Ok, I kid. Sort of.

Try to look at it from their perspective. I think the people who built the place had this in mind:

Plenty of racetracks are built in shitty areas and/or out in the middle of nowhere. Why? Because the huge amount of land needed is way cheaper and its not like they are going to have the space to do something like this in New York City.

EDIT.

I had a large arguement, but that wasnt really the point of this thread..

it was me more of just ..venting, my rant. which it served its purpose.

I don't really want to turn this into an arguement with people, so im closing the thread...because it could turn into something very childish, very easy.

Everyone had good points on both sides, and I appreciate them all.
