VK56 is just too expensive to make it a worthwhile swap at this point, IMO.

Nice work GSracer, I'm excited to watch what your up to, I'm going to be finishing up my VH swap with Mazworx headers and transmission adapter once I get my car back out of paint. I think I'm going to build new coil pack harnesses too, mine are very brittle.

SicBastard - The newer VK engines have different bolt patterns than the earlier VH. I've confirmed this at a local Infiniti dealership that a friend is service manager at.

It's not that big of a deal though, an adapter for them could be made just as easily as this one if someone with the means like Mazworx wanted to take it on.

The VH45 is ideal on lots of different counts though.

Even a car/engine that only came out last June isn't off the table.

This is from edmunds.com:

Speed is the 2008 Infiniti FX50's prime directive. The 60-mph mark flashes by in just 5.6 seconds, as compared to the 6.8 seconds required by the FX45's 60-mph sprint. Plus, when the tach needle sweeps past 4,000 rpm, there is a conspicuous extra surge of power from the FX50 V8 courtesy of its sophisticated system for variable valve timing and lift.
Exactly that's all you know have you ever looked at these blocks?

The VH has a casted in brace the VK doesn't get other than that they are both the same. Minus the removable metric plugs the VH has.

This was already said.

The VK already has a 5 speed adapter plate made already to use with the 300zx transmission.

Shit, people got their panties all up in a bunch.

All I asked was if the VK would be a direct bolt in if Jerry ever decided he wanted to go that direction i n the future. I wasn't "suggesting" anything. Simple question. Thanx for the answer.

Did you only sell the last setup or the car altogether ?

So, in what car is this going ?

And I was wondering is there any aftermarket support for that engine ?

I hope you are sitting down for the answer to this! LOL!

To the OP: I wondered why you ever sold it in the first place, sick swap. I once again vote for ITB's and an all-out N/A build. That would sound sooooooo sick with ITB's and velocity stacks!

But for the amount of man-hours and money that I would assume went into it was it really worth it for $5000? A lot of times people don't seem to understand how much their time is worth IMO.

Impul has a 6.5L conversion for the 4.5 V8 and they have some other parts as well but they are sourced from the US. So yes there are parts for the V8's

Crower / Carillo for the piston / and conrods/

Toyota AE111 20V ITB (44mm) (custom intake runners needed).
use the AE92/AE101/AE111 Kouki 4AGZE Injectors as its a 370cc version and the plug right in no mod needed.
AE111 ITB's are MAP sensor.

As for the cams, a stock set of cams from the Y33 V8 with a regrind to get a 264 or a duration you want but its all about time and money there might be methods that im not aware of.

for cheaper option:
VH41 v8 Y33 engine parts
shorter intake runners
Higher compression
lower gear resistance oil pump
slightly hotter cam

As for the gear box since your able to use the Z32 bell housing that means you can also possibily later use the R34 GT-R Getrag 6speed box and bolt it up to the bell housing set up you have for the V8. This is the same for the Ford Cobra 6 speed and some other BW units.

Heres todays progress , thanks to YUCA for the help.

Getting the flywheel off

Removing the pain in the @ss auto bushing

Flywheel and clutch install

Have to cut the original starter mount off so the z32 starter can fit

Reassembled the Z32 tranny, took almost 2hrs to get the tranny on as the act clutch disc splines where tight as hell and wouldnt let the tranny slide in. Second act clutch this has happened with.

Here it is assembled waiting to go in the car. Looks hot, once its in there ill remove alot of parts for powdercoating. Havent decided what color to do the valve covers this time as wrinkle red is getting a bit played out what do you guys think.

Hopefully she will go in tommorow if hurricane gustav isnt lingering still

Excellent! Looks friggin great ~ can't wait for that "first startup" vid... It's cool you're taking your time to powercoat everything before perma-install, everyone gets so rushed with their swaps most of the time, and you always regret not cleaning everything up/etc. Is your car still green? I remember you painted it...
