You say 'don't lecture me'....I'm going to anyway

1. You're broke
2. You're trying to mod your car cheaply
3. Not even 10 posts down there is a thread on this exact same subject

Hmmm

Why not get a job, instead of worrying about doing a clutch swap?

First rule of aftermarket turbo cars: Always buy a beater, or have a job.

your best bet will be trying to find someone parting out a gently used one, or someone who has had it sitting around for a project there never going to finish, you can get some great deals that way.

as far as performance, i dont know of a clutch that you could buy brand new that is decent for 250. your power goals arent extreme so its not like youll need som twin plate unsprung monster, you could honestly get awat with a clutchmasters fx200 or lesser and be fine for your power goals. now if you decide later when you have a job and things are looking better you want more power, than youll need to upgrade it.

happy thanksgiving.

Seriously - I'll never understand how some of these fuckos going to school to 'get SMarTUR' are often the most ignorant of reality. It's almost like they let anyone into class anymore.

"Oh I'm going to school to become a doctor, but can't afford a half decent clutch for my car" get a effin job, quit boozin with Lionshead, and buy a Sentra -- TO EASY.

Internet bullies? More like realists trying to give you some solid advice...shame you can't see it. Everyone here I'm sure has come on hard times at points...

As before, I get a kick out of a college student not being able to read 10 threads down about a cheap clutch...that's what I get a kick outa.

Do you have 270 now or do you want 270? If you're strapped for cash, why do you want 270 that you don't have?

My suggestions:

a) get a used clutch
b) trade your exhaust for a stock exhaust + cash and buy a new clutch

Otherwise you will have to get a stock clutch or sell the car, but you already said you don't want any of that.

Some major Zilvia douchebags ITT. You'd think we were on a forum of a bunch of old men who hate cars from the responses... Most of the responses are from guys in their early 20's that have probably only been modifying cars for a few years. Hasn't anybody ever been in a situation where they need to compromise a bit and have their project car also be your daily as well? I know I had to for a bit when I was in college, and I always made do. Have some faith in the kid, he seems to have his head on straight. If not, he'll pay the price, but it seems like he knows that. Being a total internet douche isn't going to change the situation, so why bother?

Anyway, a used clutch sounds good if it has low miles, otherwise if I were on a really really tight budget I might go for a Spec or F1 Racing clutch. Some people have no problems with them, but there is a chance they'll suck from what I've seen. If you go Spec just get the Stage 3, the 6 puck one. The lower stage ones really suck from what I've seen, slipping at low power.

I've made it a point to make him realize he's not the only one who's been in a tight spot with money, but even when I was 17/18 and turbo charging my Altima, I understood the benefits and responsibility of a reliable daily driver to continue with school. Heck same applies to when I ahd dirtbikes growing up...I had my fast one, and the little XR80 to putz around on when mine was down, or getting new parts. Working 2 jobs, going to highschool during the day, and spending countless ours reading about turbo systems, fabbing my stuff, and making it work.

Maybe I did come off as dueschy, but in the same respect, I have no tolerence for people who can't think on their own, and do some basic reading. Again, there is a clutch thread not even 10 below his!! If you can sort out the forum, and find the post new thread button, why on earth can't he read, nor search for 10 minutes? I absolutely hate posting new threads as I'm always afraid of reposting something...so I search until no end.

Again: I know when I first got into turbo cars, I was my own source...i read, learned, and went from there. Forums? haha. I just don't get why people today can't do the same with cars...it's like they are helpless at times. Call me a duesch bag, but being self sufficient is something I take pride upon. He plainly states he has no income...that's the first thing I'd fix, not a car.

I modded and tracked my first E36 M3. Did I worry at times about what would happen if I was coming around T12 at Road Atlanta wide out at 100 mph and put it into a wall? Sure I did, it was my only car, but I accepted the risk and still did it. I would cross that bridge if I came to it, and thankfully I never did.

I have two cars now, but I couldn't back then, so I didn't.

The guy didn't ask for advice on his life, and he can at least construct a post is reasonably intelligible. Give him some credit and let him make his own choices. If you think his post is BS, just leave it alone.

The most recent bandwagon on Zilvia seems to relative n00bs trying to emulating the hardass style of people like Russ who actually had a ridiculous amount of experience with these cars. Russ has earned the right since he's been there and done that 10x, most of the other guys(not you specifically) come off as douches who are sounding way harder and trying to be way wiser than they actually are. I get tired of it, so I call it like I see it when the wannabe douches roll in a thread trying to act all hard.

To be fair, the original question was very broad. He asked for:

People responded with whatever they wanted under the auspices of the request "any ideas".

When he didn't like what he heard, he responded:

To be fair any more negative comments after this point were unncessary since he appears to already know what's wrong with the situation.

He got some more negative comments so introduced his own life into the thread:

Hmmm

Why not get a job, instead of worrying about doing a clutch swap?

First rule of aftermarket turbo cars: Always buy a beater, or have a job.

if you need to get to school and that is your main priority you get an automatic civic or corolla to drive every day.

im going to school for accounting and have my automatic s13 coupe for a daily and my hb is what i throw my money into when i have some to spare.

if he wants a cheap clutch get an f1 spec ebay special or go oem.

As before, I get a kick out of a college student not being able to read 10 threads down about a cheap clutch...that's what I get a kick outa.

This is about a clutch people nothing else. All these posts are irrelevant and therefore not constructive advice.
Constructive advice serves to build on an argument not to break it down. Do not try to analyze my life your not a psychologist.

What a bunch of pansies around here.
He needs a clutch, not advice on how to live his life.
Shit, the guy cant go to school and want to fix up his little car?
I bet 95% of the ones talkin their shit are probably still living at home without a care in the world.
Waiting for there "baller" "gangster" rims to be under the Christmas tree.

For the OP, send a p.m. to Thmotorsports.
I just was talkin with Adam.
They got great deals on clutches right now.

Seriously, everyone needs to shut the fuck up and respect each other. We're all car enthusiasts. So chill with the been there, done that-my car is cool-yours isnt-fuck kouki-fuck sil80 shit attitude. To be honest, everyone's car here pretty much looks and runs the same. You're not the only fucker in the world with the sickest ride and had to sacrifice this and that. Help a brotha out so he may not have to go through what you didnt want to go through.
