I'm a drummer. Once i ordered a couple of things from a mailorder and they sent me 2 of the same $200+ cymbal, and some other things that i didnt even order. I didnt know what to do, so i just kept them, and never looked at them again. Needless to say my favorite cymbal mysteriously cracked a few weeks later. Karma is real.

If they were fucking me with crappy customer service, and making me pay more for the exhaust than I orgiinally agreed, I would make them PAY!, and then I would take my money else where. Tell them that you received the exhaust, and that they will need to pay to ship it back to them.

DO NOT FUND CRAPPY COMPANIES.

My options stand as: let the company know, and ill have to pay, or just keep it until they come to me (which does me no good, because my friends mom is gonna hold my money until this is 'settled'), so now what?

Like you said, you were planning on paying for it anyways. You received the item, you're now USING the item, and your friend's mom is holding the cash anyways. If anything, do what she thinks is right, she's doing you a favor letting you use her account, don't be a dick. Like you said, greed takes over you, your friend's mom is acting as your conscience, and you know it. Do what's right man, even if these people suck.

You'd feel differently if you had paid them and they sent you nothing...
if they haven't noticed, when you come forward it will be a load off someone's shoulders over there. If anything, do it for the 10 minutes of relief for that one guy, even if they suck...

I was going to mention that your friend's mom probably would go out of her way to make sure the company gets thier money or exhaust. Since she is bitching in the first place she isn't going to stop until the "right" thing is done. Now she's holding your money and you have no choice but to contact the company and let them know. well if you think about it. the money changing hands/the exhaust changing hands puts this ALL on the mother...i mean, in actuality if you think about it...she bought the exhaust, she had her money refunded, she "sold" the exhaust to the kid and never paid for the exhaust.

Mom= up 520 dollars or whatever
Kid=paid for his exhaust in full
company=out 1 exhaust or 520 dollars

I had something similar to this happen to me once. I bought a shirt online. About a week later, A shirt showed up. It wasnt the same shirt I ordered, so I started to wonder. I let it go one day, and the next day I got another one, the real one. Well, I called the company and told them they had sent me an extra shirt(it was a very nice embroidered shirt, quite spendy). They told me it was an obvious error on their part, and enjoy their mistake. I kinda see it like that. If they dont have the know-how to keep things like that from happening, thats their problem and they deserve to suffer for it. They make a lot of money with parts like that. Keep it
