I've always heard that one good way to get a less-shitty looking Maaco paint job is to ask to see the person who will actually be spraying your car.
Palm him or her a 50 and remind them to take their time.

my friend paints for maaco. the main complaint i see is overspray from bad mask jobs. if you can, pull your turn signals and things like that, and mask your emblems/mouldings. people dont realize they really arent allowed to paint well for 200 bux. my friend has gotten in trouble for it. it sounds kinda shady, but try to find out who will be painting your car, and throw him an extra 50. it will make a world of difference.

I primed, and prepped my car. The shop loved that it was ready. Not only was the price cheaper but it would be out the shop faster. But some city officials came over and bitched at me for priming and doing bondo in my drive way. But also according to the official I couldn't even install anything on my car either. Because it's an eye sore. Wtf?

my paint is from maaco... i i did all the prep work myself... and i PRE masked everything myself... i highly suggest doing premasking everything and i mean everything you dont want painted....and go to different maaco's because in your area, the location and people that work at the particular maaco might make a difference. (well at least for me it did.) but yah... im gonna end up doing another paint job later on.. i only payed 600 at maaco... thats 2 coats of paint, 1 coat of clear and paint mix. and 1 coat of clear over all that... it turned out decent... if you want pictures, just PM me...its not the best in the world, but theres no overswpray, no running and no orange peeling anywhere...

and if you do your own prep work, remember this: maaco will not warrenty your paintjob from them.

Lol damn i always tearing the shit apart of my s14. I weld stuff onto my car, cut metal, well actually just to summarize it i pretty much make about 110 db of sound everytime i do something. I got another project car that i bondo and bondo and primer and primer on a daily. No complaints yet.

Driving around in a flat black car sucks ass but atleast you can take some time to finish up the dents, rust, body modifications, body kits, change body parts, etc. Then when you are done sand it down good do all the good shit you need to do before painting it. I really cant imagine myself paying more than 1 g for a paint job.

Like mentioned earlier, you get what you pay for.

Your best bet would be to head over to your local Maaco and talk with them to see what should be done. They give free estimates and that way you can get a good idea of what you need to do or what they can do...
