Idle is actually rock solid when it's cold without an idle control solenoid. Not talking like 30 below, but everything I've run into in cali has been fine. There is a coolant temp correction map in the Haltech. For each degrees below operating temp, it increases fuel X amount. This is actually a seperate map, and is definable and tunable by the user. A relatively rich mixture during warmup somewhat suffices as an idle control solenoid. I just set idle to 1krpms when fully warmed up, with an AFR of about 16:1. At startup it's at about 900 and an AFR of about 13:1. I have tuned it so both idle speed and afr creep up until it's warmed up.
Brandon: sure thing!

Awesome dude
I've been following your work on the ITB KA, and its even insipired me to even try it on my car (only difference is that I have a 89 KA24E and wanna throw a DE head on it so I have to use the intake mani anyway ^_^). Was wondering how much the haltech setup cost ya? |

Oh sorry. I tore apart the fuse box. I pulled all the fusible links and fuses that I didn't need and was left with like 10 wires, 2 fusible links, and 2 fuses. So I cut off all the extra plastic that the other fuses were stuck in. Then I cut out a bunch of the wires I didn't need, shortened a bunch of the ones I was still using, and wrapped it all back up. I ended up putting the few fuses that were left just behind the core support behind the passenger headlight. I'll post up pics this afternoon. I chose to put it there instead of lengthening the wires to put it back in the cab somewhere. The less the resistance, the better. Then I took the wires that ran from the battery to the starter and fuse box, and put them in a distribution block behind the passenger shock tower, and put the battery in the back of the car. Worked out pretty well.

Wow, that's awesome.. I'd love to do that. Except I probably need most of the stuff I have... Yah, pics'd be cool. And if you're feeling extra generous (or bored) a list of things you aren't using.

thats awesome dude. i love your car :-) actually for dohc cams you might wanna check out colt cams. hes got a new cam called the tri-flow for the dohc which is supposed to blow the pants off his already successful grinds he sells. I havent talked to him in awhile but last I heard pdm is the only company that sells them and he wasnt selling the grinds himself. you would have to call and specifically ask for the triflow grind had alot of good results ive heard in canukland but its still new and not on the site. that would be killer on your itbs man!

Here's a pic of my fuse block now.
![]() What am I not using anymore?... hmmm. Well everything you don't need to run an engine or turn on your headlights. No A/C, radio, heater, etc... I'll eventually do a painless wiring harness, so I can scrap the stock harness alltogether.

You do know that he did the ITBs for performance gains, and not for looks right? Kinda like his car is super slammed because it serves a purpose, and not just because "it looks kirra". |
