Widening Wheels thread

Can anyone help me with this please. Want to swap the lips around as the fronts currently have a 4inch lip compared to 3.5inch on the rear. Current specs are:

18x9.5-3
outside lip 4inch
disk face 1inch
inside lip 4.5inch

18x10.5 +18
outside lip 3.5inch
disk face 1inch
inside lip 6inch

so it would be 18x9 and 18x11 if i swap the lips but what would the offset be? Thanks for any help

Westside180. The specs for your wheels when you swap the lips around would 18x9 +3 and 18x11 +12. Much better then what it is now, imo

Why does everyone seem to think this is an impossible feat? Why do you need to re-weld these? I just wonder why these guys are telling me its ok, and you guys are saying its not...

No one said it was impossible. It is just more expensive. VSKFs are 3 piece welded so if you want custom sizing, you have to either buy all new inner barrels and outer lips (expensive) or have the weld machined or cut and buy new outer lips (slightly less expensive).

If you have equips, vsxxs or rezaxes, you can cheaply and easily relip them by just buying new outers.

I've tried searching but just wondering if anyone knows what other faces would fit into SSR vienna barrels. Would orden or vsxx faces fit? Thanks guys

I'm terribly curious, anyone have any idea what it would take to widen a set of Volk GTUs? I have a set of square 17x8 +27, and I want at least 9 front 10 rear, and it'd be nice to have some lip. They're two piece, so everyone's been telling me I'm out of luck, but can't hurt to ask.

OK it is my understanding than on a three piece wheel if you add to the barrel the offset will go up and if you add to the lip the offset will go down. Here's my stupid question of the day. what if the wheel has been flipped, is the barrel and lip "position" on a wheel that makes the offset go up or down or does adding to the original lip make the offset go down no matter where the lip is located on the wheel?

The offset is the difference between the mounting pad of the wheel and the wheel's center line. So if you flip the face, generally, the result is an extremely negative offset.

does any one know what barrels fit ssr vienna kreis 18's? the barrels are going to be split and machined, just looking to redo the outer barrels. ive tried searching but i cant find any info on bolt patterns or what lips fit.

if you dont get an answer just call wheelflip.com google them. they can give u that answer for sure and take care of it for u if you want also.

Bought these Shallens a year ago and was planning on getting new lips and barrels but found out only after they arrived that the AX's are two piece welded. So I had my uncle who is friends with the owner of Alberta Wheel repair up in canada convince him to weld in new rings on them, inside and outside on the rears was the thing no other company would do for me. However I do have to rock the welds on the lips haha.

These are fairly simple to rebarrel actually with just wider 1pc. hoops. Let me know if you ever need some in the future.

I assume these were welded rims and had to be cut apart and new custom lips made...?

took a set of work vs-xx 17x7.5 +35s


got some 3" & 4" lips

which changed them to 8.5 +16, 9.5 +3

Don't know if anybody will know here, but does anyone know if VS-XX lips will bolt up on a VS-KF? I'm trying to build a pair of KF's, but can't find lips anywhere

^^^^^ I'm sure someone more qualified will chime in but basically VSKF's are welded 3 piece wheels unlike Equips or VSXX's which are true 3 piece wheels. In order to resize them, you have a couple of options. The most effective option in my opinion would be to have them be sent to a company like Wheelflip or VR Wheels. They will cut the welds with a lathe and then they rebuild them with VSXX or Equip lips. If your wheels already have the weld cut or you opt to have a machine shop cut them locally then you can order the VSXX/Equip lips yourself, which do fit to answer your original question. I hope this makes enough sense, I'm typing from my phone.

Anyone ever Build Some 3pc 19" Work Meister S1's Into Flat Lipped 18" sizing combos? I wanna see Pics if so. Im thinkin about buying a set of some beat up 19s and rebuildin them. Wondering what this looks like beforehand. I thought it might look really good.
