I found a fan and shroud setup for $65 on eBay. I'm just going to toss the fans. I'll wait until it shows up before I buy some fans. I want to see it the shroud will fit the 13" spal fans. The 13's flow 3000cfm each but draw 23 amps each. The spal 12's do 2200 cfm and draw 14 amps. I might either do a 13" x2 and only run one as a main fan and the other as a backup for really hot engine moments or after a run just to really get air moving or a 13" and 12" combo with the same idea where the 13 will basically be on all the time with the 12 on a switch for those extra cooling needed situations. I also have to check what my current amp draw is from the alternator to make sure I could actually handle like 45 amps of fans. |

PCV Valve is used like normal just from VC to intake manifold.
The Clamps on the rad are just kleccos (sp) they are place holders for rivets, its riveted together now.

I believe I have a sketch of the bracket i designed a few years ago in my build if not its in here somewhere. It's nothing complicated - just a piece of plate with 3 holes. I have a spare one here at home if anyone is interested Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I removed my pcv valve/blocked the port and ran 2 10an lines to a catch can. I'm suspecting this fried my 1jz piston rings on a recent dyno tune at sound performance.

That's massively unfortunate, not sure if it would fry rings...but Toyota definitely installed a one-way PCV check valve for a reason...

Was there a vent on the catch can that went to a filter or back to the intake? If you just had both hoses running to the can with no way for pressure to escape...

It feels really good. I'm using a tread stone cast manifold and there's really not much lag at all with this setup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I believe I went with 1/8" steel. I'll see if I can scrounge up the drawing I did a while back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think we need one that is updated, this thread started out good, but with newer parts on the market it is a bit outdated. Especially with the cd009 swap becoming more common. I'm down with sharing my info and whole setup once it's running. I just have to get a few odds and ends before trying to start it. I wish we could start a diy thread that every post has to be approved before posting.

I created a facebook group when I started to buy parts for my swap. It's growing slowly, but seems to be full of people with good knowledge. |

So cooling has been a "hot" topic around here lately...[emoji51]
Here are some pics of the fitment of the Flex-A-Lite 420's on the Koyo KA/SR radiator. If using on a KA radiator, I'd highly advise attaching your hoses first and then putting the fans in place. It does fit, but it's super tight. The hoses are such a PITA to attach once the shroud is in place. Don't waste fan mounting straps like me and do it right the first time.

You don't have to notch anything if you put the hoses on first. The rubber gasket will get slightly deformed but the seal around the area is still good. What you are seeing right now in these pics is actually me removing the fans. They were run on my KA for several years and as you can see in the pics, nothing is notched.
Here is some more info on them: https://m.summitracing.com/parts/flx...FVNqfgode58JCA Also note that they are slim fans as well which helps with water pump clearance a little.
