I can gurantee put a 3:70 or the Z car owners favorite a 3:90 and that Z will kick ass off the line and out of the corner. Ya you will lose some top sped but hey you will have a blast were it counts.

I was not comparing the S13 to an HR but my '03. HR has 50whp on the DE. I've seen DE's dyno as low as 230whp and HRs as high as 290whp. HR also is a solid second faster in the 1/4, 13.x vs 14.x. SR BPU is a 13.x car.

SRA is actually a reason to get the '14 S197.

My impression is that it's probably the best incarnation of it before the new '15 model setup.

Yup.

Last of the Solid Axle Muscle Cars.

Excellent setup. Drive one, if you have complaints, it won't be about the SRA.

Car has a very unique feel too it. The S550 (2015+) feels to much like a e90 M3. Sure that's great from a sports car point of view, but from a Muscle/Mustang view it's lost what made it unique.

Half price M4 from now on.

i think its sort of a regional thing because the ugly purple 350z's were (and still are) all over the place out here in vegas.

Solid axle is what i use so SRA threw me off lol.

But let's speak in theory here. Wouldn't a 350Z suspension still be superior to the 14 STA? For track duties

I'm not buying a project, i was a fun weekend car. Not another 240, I feel a HR with bolt ons would be plenty fun at the track. Please correct me if I'm wrong. You guys have more experience with it then I do

Headers are not really "bolt on" parts and are a pita.

Drive one. Hydro-brake, exhaust, lightweight flywheel and coils will make it fun. But if you don't instantly like how it drives... It may never be for you.

You are correct there but Future was specifically asking about HR's and you responded comparing your 03 to your S13 thereby c bypassing his actual inquiry.

Ya but HR's are 80% better than the DE or the rev up. Much superior for building and or turbo charging. Oh and ya and absolute pain in the ass to drop into an 03-06"
If he really wants an HR than a 07 is the way to go.
You have to spend a fair amount on a Rev Up or DE to get it into HR territory.

The HR is definitely the way to go if you're looking for a Z and don't plan to modify it much. I work at Nissan and drive Z's all the time and the HR models just feel better then the older gens stock for stock. The earlier 350s are still plenty fun to drive with some light mods though. It really boils down to if you want to pony up the extra cash for the newer car since they still sell for a good bit more then the DE models (in my area at least).

Also I might have missed it since I haven't read the entire thread but the new Honda S660/S1000 sounds pretty interesting. A mid engined, lightweight, RWD, turbocharged car for around 20-25k would likely be a hit if Honda does decide to bring it over here.

Well the s660 is 1800+ lbs and delivers a whopping 66 hp! With a 125hp version...I wonder how much that extra horsepower is.

The export version is supposed to make around 125hp and 150ftlbs. I know that it doesn't sound like much, but when you consider those are around the same numbers that a KA24 powered 240 makes (on a good day) in a much lighter and likely much better designed chassis I don't really see how it couldn't be fun. Plus its factory turbocharged so that's certainly a bonus when it comes time to upgrade for more power.

Most of the articles I've read put the pricing of the 125hp export version in the low to mid 20s. I'm guessing it will end up being more in the upper 20s (28-30k) myself which still isn't a bad price for a mid engined sports car IMHO.

In that price range I wonder how it will stack up against the frs/brz revisions and the turbo 2.3 stang?

Also, isn't 125 rated? If so KA is rated 160/160. Although there is a 900lb differential between the two > <

I can't possibly imagine Honda selling the S660 in American. When have they ever sold a kei-class car here? It's like 500 lbs lighter & smaller than the tiny Miata...

Perhaps the crash test won't pass?
Top gear had this before but Smart ForTwo was rated safer than some of Toyota, Range Rover, BMW etc..

I can't imagine Kei Cars are in the same category as far as safety goes.

From the looks of it the export s1000 is going to be a good bit longer and wider then the Japan Kei version so while its based on the same chassis its not necessarily going to be a kei car. The export version is supposed to be a hard top as well.

Here a couple interesting articles about the car that lightly touch on the kei regulations and crash testing.

http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2015...00-is-go-50581

http://wot.motortrend.com/1504_we_he...een_light.html

I guess we'll have to wait until late next year to see if Honda really does decide to bring the car to the US and Europe but it seems like a waste for them to spend all that money and R&D on a new chassis and not do an export version (especially after they lost their shirt over that airbag fiasco). I'm not really a Honda fan but I have to admit that this car has peaked my interest and I will likely buy one if they do decide to bring it over here.

Smart cars are selling here. Why can't this?
You know, that's a good point. I searched around & found that, even though Honda doesn't sell any Kei cars here, other companies do. The Smart For2, Fiat 500, Toyota Yaris & a couple of others that I forget exist are considered Kei cars. So, I guess it's a maybe on the S660 or S1000 or whatever they're calling it...

Fiat500 and Yaris are not Kei-Cars

Kei-Cars are a max of 64hp and 600cc

that S660 kinda looks like and reminds me of a modern day Del Sol.

Ahhh... Just info I got from some article. I didn't really think there were any legit kei cars over here. If they bring that Honda though, that might be a great start. But I'm doubting it'll come here.

Why would anyone want one?

Kie cars are sold exclusively in Japan because of the license system and tax breaks.

Europe's smallest cars are one size larger and are done mainly because of ultra crowded cities.

A Smart car is vastly inferior to many other economy cars in terms of fuel economy. It only works in crowed Paris with tinny allies and cramped streets.

These cars are not particularly cheap. Any rational American would sooner buy a 3 year old CPO Civic for $14k over a new $16k Smart/Kei Car.
