Most of my pics were lost when Imagestation went down, sadly...
No (real) Nismo grill, no coilovers (just springs/shocks)... 2002, at a hotel in Inglewood, where I was picking up a friend who had just arrived from Amsterdam: 2002, with detprimera's SR20DET P10: This is at the 2003 BBQ, one of these was taken by Kevin (Mephistopheles): Don't quite remember what's going on here: At Signal with my friend's then-new R33 GTS25t, must have been 2004 because I see the Bride seat and Willans harness I bought in Tokyo in Jan 2004:

When did Signal Auto fold out of LA? I havent heard anything about them since maybe 06/07. Buddy of mine shipped 2 crates of parts thru them and I had to go down to Socal and pick them up from their shop.

My buddy (with that grey R33) now has this (which pretty much never ever leaves the garage):

If yall hate how the 240sx scene has become because of the mad dorifto bandwagon...we should all blame Signal Auto since they went campaigning around the country to show off drifting with the Signal Twins.
I was in NJ when they had their demo in Englishtown, during one of our local drift wednesdays. That was where Signal met Chris Forsberg and decided to bring him to CA. That was back in late 02/03. |

I didn't know about them except through drag racing when they brought that S15 out to IDRC in 02.
Probably just showing off because their NSX powered Civic hatch was clearly their comp car. |

Cool story here, kind of late replying (I don't come on here anymore). The car shown here used to belong to Jeremy Dibble, a local Atlanta guy who I met in 1999 I think. He put the Lenso wheels on it, lowered it on Apex'i coilovers, and did a bunch of bolt ons to the KA, the decided he wanted a hatch and sold off all the parts, put it back stock, and sold it to Jerome Silvers, who had the same exact car but an automatic. Jerome put all the same stuff back on it (he had most the same parts), including the wheels, then swapped to the Silvia front end, and was planning to turbo it. This was maybe 2002, he kept it for several years and we went on numerous mountain runs together as well as events and meets all over. Sometime later he left for the Air Force and sold it to Chad White (biggie), it's current owner. It's seen the three owners that I know and numerous parts and changes over the years. Glad to see Chad still has it.

Komatsu tapped the K-rail with it, the bumper exploded and i grabbed a chunk of it. So much flake in that paint. Back when there was just one K rail between the cars and the crowd and you could reach out and touch them as they slid by. I also gave Koguchi a high five while he was doing a burnout in the red 180sx. |

man this thread is great, im 32 and didnt own my first 240 till late 2005. Not due to any drift bs, and i didnt join this forum till way later b/c im just not a forum kinda guy. but back during these days i saw non fujitas car, i also saw the superstreet silver s13 with the advan looking wheels and always wanted one.
but it was to expensive for me at the time when i was 18-21. sooooo i went with cheap honda ef hatchbacks with b16a swaps LoL ah the good ole days of Redline auto in arlington TX. =D this thread is great and i love seeing the riced out kits that where hot back in the day. yes.. i had a wings west rs kit on my hatch.but deff no bandwagoner here, i cant stand stretched tires and knockoff parts. All my parts back in the day had to be ordered through the performance shop i went through. engine and all. there was no online. |

^^ all the pop-up Nopi shops that never sold real parts, only cheep shit from Nopi, like hype white bulbs, Razo, Tenzo, Eribuni, etc...
Only the hardcore guys could get you an HKS exhaust, and the big 4 were nearly unknown (c1996). I had major ties with JUN when they came to the US, and it was them and friends who talked me into starting Rare Trick (c2002). Just so happened that JUN closed as I opened and my connections went to the motherland and spead like cancer. I basically Raped the idea of Six Degrees of Seperation in Japan. If Jun was friends with Nagisa, and Nagisa was friends with Omori... I was their hackysack! And so you guys know, I do plan on re-opening Rare Trick, but it will be very different this time! -Drew |
