Search engine optimization is not the same thing as Google outright selling you the number one spot (which someone has yet to prove in this thread). SEO is using proper CSS and meta tags so that bots can pick up and index your page. Geesh!

my mistake. yes you can pay to have your sight optimized and monitored for it to come up first on googles search results, but as far as paying GOOGLE directly i have no idea if that is true or not. i thought the question was if you can pay to have your stuff come up first on google, not pay google directly. i would imagine IF google did such a thing, it would be pretty pricey and that only big corporations would be able to pay for something like that. and that is a big IF.
