Alot depends the turbo you have as to what fitting you can use/need there. i believe ATP turbo makes the block oil return fittings.

" Mounting the tucked radiator I picked up from Chase:"

I don't know, maybe its a 1 off for his build... Why wouldn't the mass produced ones for s13/14 be taller than 10" It would only make sense..

He stated in his thread he gave Chase's radiator builder the dimensions he wanted for the radiator. And Chase got it done for him. I have a buddy running an AFCO Tucked radiator in his RB25 swapped S13 i'll see if i can get a pic or two. He said with the fan he's running he is still close on fitment.

oh ok, that explains a lot. I didn't read the whole thread so yea.

I did some measuring and the lower jz rad hose is a little larger in diameter than the upper.

I'm running fal's as pushers right now. Here in Oklahoma its about 70 degrees or so and it gets to 190-200 on the hwy. I'm going to switch to pullers when I remove the Ac compressor.

Hey guys I was reading on here that everyone has decided that the Q45 from 94-97 was the best option with a 3.54 ratio. PM if you want one, i have an extra in California that i'm looking to sell, not going to do the swap for a good 7 months anymore.

Can someone tell me the benefit of going 2jz compared to 1jz? I'm stuck on either a 2jz or 1jz vvti. Thanks

Displacement, power, parts easily available since the 2j was made in America, aftermarket support, etc.... The list goes on

what exactly do you mean by "lets you stay in the gas more with less shifts", ive been hunting for a diff to use on my swap and the local jdm shop just got a s15 rear subframe in, i checked it out today but nobody knew if the final drive was, ive been looking for 4.08 but if 3.69 is good too ill just buy it. Also if people use 4.08 FD diff's why dont they just use

The 3.69 makes the gears longer, so you don't have to shift as soon as you would with the 4.08... Would have went with the q45 3.54, but did not want to change the axles and hubs lol...they are so close it would not be that much of a difference, the s15 bolted up, too easy and I got it for a deal lol

The early model Q45 (90-94) Diff has a 3.54 gear ratio which is longer then the later (97+) Q45 diff which has a 3.69. The real reason most of us go thru the headache of switching over the 90-94 setup with axles and hubs required is because it is the only year Q45 VLSD that uses a larger spline (dont quote me but I think the 3.54 has 31 splines vs. the 3.69 which has 29 spline) count axles making them more robust. Either way most guys need to switch axles to the J30 setup when swapping over to the 3.69 diff (5-Point Star Axle Design)....advantage is that you do not need to swap out Hubs which you need to do with the 3.54 (6-Point Star Axle Design).

The gearing itself is ideal as well for a high hp car as the gearing is longer which usually allows someone to stay in a chosen gear longer. So if your into 1/4 times you could finish the run in 4th gear (typically ideal for a 2j setup) vs. having to go into 5th gear to complete the run. Most guys running the big #s (besides auto trans cars) are using the VLSD setup and even then some do. Freed or Omar (BabillaRacing) or Sam Collier or Underground Motorsports (back in the days) are using the 90-96 upgrade for these reasons . Either way its a cheaper alternative to the aftermarket axle upgrade such as Mazworx which can cost $1800+ vs. finding a local setup which I paid a total of $550 for.

Hope that clears a few things up a bit. I know of guys running both the 3.69 and 3.54 setups with great success. But again, the more robust 3.54 axle setup is ideal when aiming for big #s and have a chance/fear of snapping axles.

Congrats dude, let the money pit begin haha.
Also, I just bought a cast iron ex. Mani from Suprastore.com and they had this "make and offer" button for the manifold and it wasn't a huge savings but I got a pro torque mani. For $282.26 shipped to VA.
I just wanted to throw that in here so I could contribute a bit for once

^^thats awesome

Are you on stock fuel?

What Fan setup did you use?

Did you start with an Intercooler piping kit to do your plumbing?

Question for the guys that have notched the rad support to fit fans - Did you also notch the bottom that 1.5" or w.e. so the radiator sits like stock or does everyone just lean it back? Pics of lower notching would be awesome if anyone has done it

Most people I've seen just lean it back. I'm going to be trying out two of these fans out:

Derale Performance High Output Single RAD Fan and Shroud Kits 16925 - SummitRacing.com

Made specifically for pushing and should be able to fit two of them perfectly.

-Yes, stock injector, walbro fuel pump on 91-94 oct. for now, have some fuel cut at 6-6500 rpm when engine is not properly hot.

-For the fan, last year i used ebay twin 10'' fan, but give me some heating issue. Now i use oem subaru forester 2.5 twin fan, with custom shroud. (puller type). flow very great, got 5mm clearence to my water pump pulley.

-I got sr20 piping-front mount kit, i just switch the upper right side to left ect, some minor cuting modification.

I'll take pictures of my core support tomorrow. Leaning it wouldn't of helped me, I had to push the whole setup further away from the engine. I redrilled holes in the bottom to line the radiator pegs up, but yeah when it's light out tomorrow I'll snap some pictures.

I dont see how thats possible - You would have to have notched the bottom as well right?
