The Q45 seems to be the best option unless you have really deep pockets and step up to a Mazworx 9 inch rear end and then you will never ever have to worry about breaking another axle.

Just keep us updated because life happened and my care won't be up and running until next summer. I am curious how the 3.59 gears are going to react on my SR22.

BTW where in Georgia are you?
I'm in Augusta about 1.5 hrs from Atlanta. My pockets definatly are not deep lol. So no 9 inch for me. I'm running radials but no 2 step, had to run the diff swap by the wife but it's a go now lmao.

We don't really ever have Z32's in yards near me. gonna have to widen my search area.

Z32's are becoming harder to find in the yards, but Q45's are still frequenting the yards.

Ya the hardest piece of the setup to find is the z32 axle. Everyone wants to sell them for $200 used but you can get a remanufractured one from Autozone for that price. I pulled my q45 diff, axle, and hubs from picknpull for $170.

BPearl, I know where you are at. I lived in Savannah for 5 years and I loved it. I wish I could move back there.

No doubt slow92 savannah is nice, I was born for the beach

So slow gave me some good info on the brakes and swap, but say I want to be a cheap ass and swap the q45, axles and hubs from q45/z32tt, can I just use stock s14 rotors and keep my stock rear brakes. Searched a bunch, most threads are for upgrading the q45 brakes to s13 all around. If at all possible I'd like to just pop the diff, axles and hubs in and throw on some rotors that will work w/ the brakes.

Gotta buy rims as well so looking to budget. Maybe talk the wife into buying me some weld draglites

I wouldn't see why not. I was assuming that you wanted to use the stock rear brakes with the z31 caliper brackets. Everything should mount up and you should be able to use the stock brakes.

My stock s13 caliper brackets and calipers bolted up right up to the q45 hubs.

Do guys feel frustrated with the s13 driveline? I know I do. Every time I go to drag strip I break stuff. I am afraid going to drag strip anymore because stuff will break. The only thing that break on my supra is clutch. I have to replace that every year . But that car is way too heavy. I have z32 tranny, 3" driveshaft, j30 axles and s13 2 way diff. I am afraid that diff will break at the strip next time I go to the strip. I am only at 350 whp.

I don't see how you would break the diff at that horsepower level, unless you have wheel hop. Still, I would think that you would break an axle before the diff. Plus, Santos was making close to 600whp on J30 axles and was using drag radials. So it may be the way you drive that cause parts failure.

@Zurud.....Not saying its the only option but the Q45 diff setup has proven to take a beating without much concern. Do you have solid diff bushings installed?

Also, fellow member bought RaceStar DragStar's 15x8 with 5.25bs and they cleared the Z32 rear brakes on an S14.....no spacer needed.

^^ Racestars have massive brake clearance....unfortunately they do not offer anything higher than a 5.25" offset (~25mm) on a 15x8 rim. I test fitted these rims and clear Z32 rear brakes with NO PROBLEM...
I also found out, the hard way, that Weld prostars (15x8 6.5"BS) DO NOT clear z32 brakes without a spacer..

I believe the "pad height" option are only avaiable for WELD RT-S rims not prostars...I just check their webiste and they do not offer a option to select what "pad height" to order for PROSTARS..
On the other hand they do offer the "pad height" option for 15" S71 Wheels...

Maybe i am not finding it??? can you dig up a link..I still have the prostars but i was just gonna ship them back to summit since i dont want to run a spacer..

That's impressive sr20s13abel. However what is stock in your s13 driveline? What is your setup?. I like to have numbers like yours someday. q45 diff is r200 just like s13 diff. How come it is stronger than s13 diff?

The Q45 has the 6-bolt 30-spline axles, hubs, and output shafts like the 300ZX TT

Thanks.. Currently making 740whp @33psi soon to be at 40psi and a 50 small shot to wake him up.. I dont have a cage yet thats why I brake at the end. but cage is on the plans too.. it needs to be an NHRA certified cage along with a parachute. .. also I been told by track officials that I need an NHRA license as well.. at this point its just too much for a street car.. I would like to throw in a g-force transmission and make it a track only car..

It can't be that hard to get an NHRA license? The cage can be expensive though.

license requires a form, money and 1 half pass, 4 moderate passes and 2 full passes faster than 9.99 or 135mph, in which the track must sign off on the 6 passes
plus you have to pay to be an nhra member which is more than the license itself lol

Yes sir.. the local track can do it.. passes have to be faster the 6.3 @ 1/8 mile.. plus the physical exam or something I heard. . The most difficult part is all the safety requirements. . My car is very consistent even though am banging gears..

Nhra is just like any other big business. Its sad really. I like IHRA tracks, they don't require as much bs as NHRA.
