Jumped on a used EVGA GTX 1080TI FTW3. As much as I wanted a 2080Ti, I just can't justify the price. This card is an absolute beast, going to see what clocks I can get out of it in the next few days, but it seems to push 3440x1440 pretty easily.

The 580 is now the same price I bought my 470 for. Still not enough of an upgrade. I am going to either get a used 1080ti or a 2080 depending on price and performance.
That game with its scaling is cool but lets not pretend like it is not a major outlier. Mgpu is almost dead right now with a lot of games not supporting it.

^^^1070’s are getting there now.
Even better a 1070ti $330. Pretty much no point to a Vega 56 or rx580. https://imgur.com/gallery/JurYDOJ Nvidia got rid of sli on the 2070. So now two cards out of their entire new line up are capable of MGPU. Doesn't really sound like they are behind it.... https://hothardware.com/news/nvidia-...nk-sli-but-why Slightly older article in Jun https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd-crossfire-vs-nvidia-sli Quote:
Mgpu looks cool af I will admit, but the reality is aside from one offs most game do not experience that great in scaling. Not to mention the issues some games have with stuttering. I wanted MGPU to be a thing but now I am on the single powerful card bandwagon. Nvidia has the most powerful cards right now, so green team I go.

I had really considered going sli with the 1080ti last year. I had purchased 2 cards and ended up returning 1 one of them.
It just didn't make a lot of sense given the complications. I got the sense that dx12 games may have been even less compatible and was skeptical there would be support for future titles. With the 2080ti being as expensive as it is, I don't see a huge market and incentive for multi gpu support. Not sure if this is also the case with amd cards. https://babeltechreviews.com/gtx-108...ce-25-games/3/ |

Looks like a lot of 'Shadow of the Tomb Raider' reviewers got xbox codes. The ones that got PC codes are complaining about glitches.

Engineering samples may not have all features enabled and perform the same as a retail sample.
Edit: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming Z? What review channel doesn't have a higher performance GPU?

What an amazing show by Vega.
If performance was like this most of the time I’d order one ASAP. Too bad this pretty much happens in outlier titles. Alleged leaked benchmarks. https://videocardz.com/77983/nvidia-...mance-unveiled

Man these 2080 and 2080Ti benchmarks are weak, the 2080 is basically equal to a 1080Ti and the 2080Ti is 15-30% faster than the 1080Ti. For the cost, not worth it in my opinion...

2080 very disappointing. With result like this, I'm not sure why it was even released as opposed to just continuing the 1080ti.
I can see the appeal with 2080ti even though it's not a deal. 20-30% performance increase over 1080ti is still notable improvement, but of course you are looking a more limited customer base. |

Dat Vulkan performance doe.
If they called it the 2070 and 2080 I would be fine. But releasing a Ti this early with meh increases in performance makes me think they are going for a cash grab because AMD can’t keep up. Definitely save your cash till the tech they are promoting goes mainstream and games and OSes support it.

I made my decision. As soon as I get the funds I am buying a 1080ti. On the used market they are going for about 525-575.
