I have an aftermarket speedometer which has an single vehicle speed input. When I look at the FSM (240sx HB with analog dials - using factory VSS) the speedometer has two inputs y/g and y/b.

How would I go about wiring it?

Hey broadfield,
Would a newer sentra unit fit in the double din enclosure?
Really digging this because cd/aux and its simple design.

Another picture of an earlier, maybe 2007, unit

Also, would the install require more than the average after market unit, granted I have the male harness for the both the sentra unit and the s13?

Toby, looking to get a head unit for my daily. Small 2 door truck with shit speakers....

My priorities are budget, USB input, and possibly Bluetooth depending on cost. Single din single cd. 'Simple'

Suggestions and price?

Thanks.

No idea man. I actually don't really do any wiring in vehicles aside from audio... despite what everyone thinks. Every single gauge cluster and interior piece I have ever made simply gets shipped to the customer... either they wire it or have a shop do it.

Maybe!?! The Sentra unit is slightly oversized from a standard double DIN, but so is the S13. Whereas the S14 is a true double DIN size. You would only need the OEM version of the wiring harness, which you have, and maybe an antenna adapter.

I don't really have enough experience to say one way or the other. I never have customers bring me DD gear in my area.

Without BT, Alpine CDE-141 ($99 shipped). With BT, Alpine CDE-143BT ($119 shipped)

I have a s13 Hatch, 1990, and really want a nice touchscreen navigation/Bluetooth receiver. I'm not a fan of the fold up screens so I'm looking for a double din setup, but my insert on the console is relatively limited. What would you suggest for a 400-500$ range?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 so the more compatible with android the better. I was looking at the pioneer app radio 3 and really liked it once I looked into the ARUnchained app, however it is far too large for my setup.

Thanks for any tips/advice.

Edit: I took measurements again, and the AppRadio 3 fit just barely, although it was a PITA to fit all of the wires back in to the compartment. It's also a bit ridiculous that I had to spend another 100 dollars in cables just to use my Galaxy S4 with the receiver. The receiver is nice though at least.. now I just have to figure out how to setup the touchscreen for when my phone is plugged in. Right now it is just in mirror play even with all MHL cables plugged in?

Hey Toby,

I just bought a old beater civic as a daily. It's got some really old flakey tint on the windows. Do you have a recommendation of getting it off the back windshield?

What product do you use to clean/restore/keep shine for interior bits.

Such as s13 dash, door panels.

Armor all type product?

A few years ago I found the ultimate interior product.... Snap-On's Protect One! They released a line of detailing products several years ago that was mostly just average crap. However, the dash protectant is amazing. The product was discontinued not long after though. Luckily I found a case of it and bought it. So I'm good for a very long time!

Toby, this does not help me dammit!

Other suggestions for something still on the shelf? I'm hoping to bring some life back to my door panels mostly. But hey why not show the dash some love too.

Works well on my S14. I usually just wipe them down with wet towel every car wash to keep clean, but when it gets really dirty, Meguiar's cleaner works wonders.

Toby, when you used your blue point speed blaster with the hot spot bag on your car what blast media did you use?

i purchased one based on the results you achieved but using some media from the blast cabinet at my work didn't give the same result.

what brand and grade you used would be awesome.

Toby,

Have you figured out spacers that will allow a GM alternator to work with our KRC bracket? Or are you looking at the $$$$ KRC alt?

Hey Broadfield!
I took the foam/fabric shit off of a '05 Mustang door panel, but some of the fuzz is stuck on the panel still and I can't figure out what the hell to use to take it off.
I need this panel to be clean so I can pull a mold off it.
I used stuff from 3M, Goo Gone, even tried rubbing alcohol, nothing is working.
Have you ever seen anything like this? Got any ideas on what I should try next?

I have about 3/8" - 1/2" clearance on each rail.

Nope, it's stuck on there pretty good.
I've grabbed a few pieces with pliers and they still won't come off.
Ford used some kinda Hulk-like adhesive on this thing.

Hey Broadfield
Viper 5704 my siren's volume is low all of a sudden? Power was off on the car for about a month then I hooked the battery back up and noticed that when I arm and disarm it the siren is low. The LCD says it's not silent and doesn't show its in valet mode? do I need to change it or is there a way to turn the volume up on it.

I used acetone and a rag a couple hours ago, to remove the fuzz from my S14 door panels. No problems. Test it on an inconspicuous spot first to make sure there are no adverse reactions from the acetone.

getting some fuel problems on a vehicle of mines, did a carb to efi swap and kept the stock gas talk, just installed a fuel pump. it works fine. Looking to change it before i get any problems.

So i was thinking to use the stock tank to a fuel cell with the crappy pump, and then with a external pump from the fuel cell.

OR just welding on a bung to my tank and mounting a external pump with a external filter?

I had to run an R-disk because of the StopTechs. I would imagine an A-disk would clear Q45's... but I would check with Work to be sure.
