On another note, I'd like to point out this part of the article:

Kent police have applied some community outreach, with a hope to move racing off the streets and onto legal tracks.

“There are other avenues that we try to point them to,” Kasner says. “It’s just whether or not that’s what they want to do.”

Racers complain that tracks aren’t open late and that they’re expensive, and there are few such tracks. The Kent police department has tried to counter by offering free passes to Pacific Raceways, the local motorsports facility; there haven’t been many takers.

I'll bet that one reason no one takes them up on free track admission is because they don't trust the police. Take for example what's been happening here in Ontario, Canada over the last few years.

There's a yearly championship called CSCS (Canadian Sport Compact Series). It's 5 events per summer at different tracks across Ontario with Time Attack, Drift, Drag and Show competitions. The series' slogan is "Prove it at the track" and many competitors proudly display stickers with this slogan on their cars because they believe in keeping racing off the streets.

You know what the police do to the people attending and competing in these events? They setup vehicle inspection checkpoints just down the road from each track to stop as many modified vehicles as possible and proceed to throw the book at the owners for every offence they can. It's outrageous that the people putting effort and money into keeping racing off the streets are the ones being harassed.

So it's no wonder why these racers in Kent are reluctant to attend track days that are sponsored by the police.

I know that can be said for every state, but the 'code' and the police cracking the code part made me internally cry a little. But I think that this was probably written by one of the younglings who think very highly of the racing and very little of the cops, because face it, no one could be that dumb right? "Budweiser" LITERALLY means meet up at the Budweiser factory.

The NatGeo special a couple years back on the Kent races was pretty bad. About an hour or so of cops looking for "racers" and end up jailing a few drunk drivers that were more or less unrelated. But this new video... jeez I am embarrassed to live here.



Side note; Pacific Raceways and PGP (both here in Kent) no longer allow drifting. Apparently due to some County noise restriction deal. Yet they allow top fuel drags. Super sick right?
